The banquet for the ministry was tomorrow and I didn't even have a dress.
After the game night, I went home and stayed there all of yesterday.
But, I decided to finally get up and be productive, so I stepped outside of my apartment and apparated to Hogsmeade.
I had owled Y/n to meet up with me if she wanted, but I haven't gotten a response yet, so I just trailed down the streets of Hogsmeade freely.
I looked over all of the small shops and stopped inside of a small cafe to get a bit of breakfast.
"Got your letter!" A soft voice laughed from behind me and I turned around to see Y/n walking right towards me.
"Thank Merlin, you came. I can't go dress shopping by myself."
"I know you can't," she giggled as she joined me at the small table. "That's why I'm here."
"You're the best-"
"I know."
I rolled my eyes as the waiter served us our food. We hurried up while eating to make sure we had enough time to shop.
After breakfast, we found a shop a few stores down the road and entered. The large shop was lined with many racks of formal clothing, from gowns to tuxedos and suits.
"So, only four more months until the wedding...how are you feeling?" I asked Y/n as I skimmed through one of the racks, my eyes landing on a few dresses that interested me.
"I'm so excited," Y/n smiled as she picked up a long black dress and eyed it up and down. "I wish it would come sooner."
"You really love the git, don't you?" I laughed as I picked up a few more dresses, feeling the soft silk material between my fingertips.
She smiled from the other side of the rack before saying, "I really do."
We continued to search threw more isles, looking over all the racks. There were hundreds of dresses to choose from. Some short, some long, some sleeveless.
When I finally grab about ten dresses, Y/n and I make our way over to the dressing rooms in the back. I step into one and close the door before putting on my first option. It's a long, tight navy dress that is sleeveless.
I wait a few moments until I hear Y/n's dressing room door open until I step out, seeing her dressed in a beautiful gold dress.
"Can you help me zip?"
"Sure," I laughed as I step behind her and brush her hair off of her shoulders, allowing me room to sip the back.
As I'm sipping up the dress, Y/n breaks the silence by asking, "Do you still love Ryder?"
My breath hitches in my throat at the unexpected question as I let go of the zipper, my hands falling to my sides.
"Because I saw the look in your eyes that night and it looked like you didn't mean what you said. But how could that be true if..."
"I didn't take the veritaserum." I confessed quietly, stepping away from her as she turned around to face me.
"I knew it!"
"You- what?" I asked as I see her face light up.
"I knew you didn't drink it! When Draco and I were preparing the drinks, we left one cup untouched because we thought it'd be fun to try to guess which one didn't have it. We didn't tell anyone though, wanted it to be a little game between us," Y/n grinned as she clapped her hands excitedly. "Draco bet it was Blaise, but I told him I knew it was you! Ugh, I cant wait to see the look on his face when I tell him-"
"You made me believe I didn't love Ryder when I really just said that because I was mad that he and Eleanor kissed!"
"Well..." Y/n's voice died down a little as she looked at me cautiously. "When you put it that way, I guess I did. Sorry."
"It's fine," I replied shortly as I went back into the dressing room to try on more dresses.
I didn't like most of them. Only the last dress really caught my eye and when I showed Y/n, she agreed immediately.
As we left the shop, she grabbed my hand causing me to turn around abruptly to face her.
"I'm sorry for messing with you with the veritaserum. Draco and I just wanted a good laugh. I didn't think it would-"
"It's okay, really." I assured her as I offered her a warm smile.
She smiled back at me before leading me down the road in Hogsmeade, preparing to head home.
The banquet was tomorrow and that's when I would see Ryder for the first time since the party.
Did I still love him?
I guess I did...
