The time has finally arrived!! Sesshomaru and Kagome are finally about to meet!!

Once in the Feudal Era, Kagome immediately ran towards the forest, making sure to purify traces of other scents the way Kaede had taught her to. She cleansed all the scents off of herself using her spiritual energy till only hers remained. Then, she ran towards the West, because even though she could sense no jewel shards at the moment, she had a good feeling, a premonition perhaps, that she should head that direction. While she ran, she tried to let go of all the feelings she had for Inuyasha and hoped for a new beginning. As she did so, Kagome realized that the supposed 'love' she had for Inuyasha was barely there. Her crush had morphed into anger and rage, and whatever vestiges of emotion remained were similar to one's affection for a best friend.

Hmm.... I really need a boyfriend, she mulled while running.

Definitely not Hojo though. Why can't he just take a hint? I never liked the nice-guy type anyway. He's too pushy for my liking. I do love demon markings....fangs, claws, the whole deal. Not to mention the feeling of being carried around like you're as light as a feather! She stopped to think.

But who? Kouga maybe? He had said that he loved her, plus he didn't compare Kagome to Kikyo all the time. It's high time for me to be loved for who I am. What other hot Demons have I met? Hiten and Bankotsu were definitely easy on the eyes, but they're both my enemies!

She sighed. Who else?

An image flashed in her mind, revealing intense honey-gold eyes, hot magenta markings, and an indigo blue crescent that gave her the urge to trace it with her finger every time she saw it. She shook her head, laughing at her own foolishness. On a scale of 1-10 in sexiness, Sesshomaru may be in the upper hundreds, but he would never even look at a poor human miko like me. One who traveled with his half-brother no less! He's made it clear he despises Inuyasha and humans.... But...  A twinge of doubt crept into her mind. What about Rin?

The lord of the Western Lands always had his ward around, and even seemed to have some measure of affection for the small human child. She sighed. It's still not happening, so I shouldn't dwell on it. Besides, he was a complete asshole the last time we ran into each other. He even tried to melt me! Ugh, I must be either desperate or delusional. Unknowingly, amidst her rambling, she had entered the territory of a certain silver-haired Western Lord.

Kagome walked on a bit more, until she found a suitable clearing near a hotspring. She grabbed some canned foods from her bag and made a quick dinner. On her way to setting up her water-proof sleeping bag, she decided to take a bath the next morning in the hot spring. She was drenched in sweat after running the whole day, and was still wearing her usual school uniform.

Her food was all packed now, but just as she bent over to her black bag to get her compact sleeping bag out, she heard something. A barely audible rustle in the leaves. She had a weird nagging feeling, but dismissed it. When she heard it again, her senses were on high alert. Kagome reached out her mind to search for any demons and jewel shards, and immediately sensed one. The prickling feeling in her head never lied. There was also something else...something she was missing.

The demon was barely 20 feet behind her, and it had a Jewel shard! Kagome picked up her bag—that she had, thankfully, packed up neatly—in one swift motion, and started running deeper into the western lands. She hoped the demon was friendly and had not come for her jewel shards, but there was no way she'd be that lucky. She prayed it was just a coincidence that the creature happened to be so close to her.
If she had been at full strength, her bow and holy arrows would have been enough to take on the demon. But she had run all day while using her holy energy to purify her scent and trail, so she was completely exhausted. I wonder when Inuyasha is gonna realize that I have nearly half of the Shikon jewel and come after me. Well, I hope he doesn't reach that conclusion too soon. I really don't want to see his stupid face after what he said about me.

She ran as fast as her feet would carry her, but the demon caught up. When she turned, an eight-foot-tall hawk demon looked over her, with a sharp beak and cold green eyes that glinted with a predatory glare. He still held a slightly human appearance, but that only made him all the more dangerous. Demons who could maintain humanoid forms but still transform into their true form were considerably more powerful than those resembling animal, after all.

"Wait, little girl. I'm not going to hurt you.....Much...We're just going to have some fun!" He said in a low, menacing voice. He was closing in fast. He was only feet away from her, and leapt, talons extended. She couldn't evade him, as she was reaching her limit. She managed to avoid a direct hit, but his razor sharp talons still dug into the soft flesh in her side, cutting it like a sharp knife through butter. Her blood gushed, and she screamed, still trying to get away. Now backed up against a tree, a hand clutched at her wounded side, Kagome's face twisted into a painful grimace. The hawk demon slowly stalked closer, now that she was cornered, and took pleasure in the fact that his prey was scared of him.

Kagome didn't know what to do. Inuyasha was miles and miles away, and definitely wouldn't come to her rescue this time. Not to mention the fact that Kagome would almost rather die than be saved by Inuyasha again. Koga was off in the east, with his pack.
"No! Please! You don't want to do this!" She pleaded, trying to stall for time.
"Oh yeah, and what would You know about what I want to do?? Stupid human. You do look quite delectable though, I will admit," he said, smirking viciously all the while. He pinned her to the tree, and tried to claw at her with his talons again. Not to be caught unawares again, Kagome built up all her remaining threads of power, and focused it into a single point. Her whole hand began to glow. The demon's eyes widened, but he was too late. She released all her remaining power at once, and watched as his hands disintegrated to ash. He let out a pain-filled shriek.

However, she had forgotten about how the jewel shard in his neck would regenerate his missing limbs, and it had already started to do just that. "How dare you purify me?!? Still, you'll have to do better than that weak attempt, filthy human witch! No.... A Priestess. I didn't expect this, but it will just make violating you all the more fun! Oh I'll teach you not to disobey me, the great Fukuro!" He said coldly, his eyes promising her a world of hurt.

Kagome was losing hope. All of the demon's limbs were back, and she was dead tired, without an ounce of energy left in her body. Her bow and arrows lay in her black bag a few meters away, where it had been flung in her haste to get away from Fukuro. After slowly clawing at her arms, revealing thin streams of blood, Fukuro loosened his hakama with a gleeful smile.

Just as Kagome was losing consiousness, she saw a glimmer of long hair the color of starlight appear behind the hawk. She slumped down as his hold on her loosened. She witnessed that person—demon?— lop Fukuro's head off in a single, graceful strike. Inu....yasha...? No...it's.... The world turned black.
