18. Xianxia

<JakeHoon went off to the gym for their daily routine before soaking in the hot-tub to relax their muscles>

JK: So what did you think of the c-drama we saw the other week.  A large number of your fanbase is from china, I thought we should check it out.  I did some research, and the Xianxia drama did well.

SH: You mean Untamed? I thought it was really good. Immortals\heroes are your favorite genre.

JK: Yeah. I can see people making comparisons between our relationship and the drama, so I wanted us to be prepared.  Let's see how much you remember.

<20 questions>

1. What c-drama have you seen that you like and why? JK:  The Untamed <but was mild compared to the original novel>  SH: Because the 2 protagonists are soulmates <with no juicy scenes> just like us and bear similar personalities <minus the supernatural powers>. 

2. Which characters do you think the other person resembles the best?  SH: Wei Wuxian, who is kind-hearted, pure, innocent, optimistic, mischievous, playful, loyal, and cares deeply for his friends and family.  JK: Lan Wangji. He's cold, strict/disciplined, distant, quiet, rational, mature, princely, focused, high-achiever, hard-working, a good heart, a sense of justice, and wears white.  He holds a soft spot for Wei Wuxian.

3. How are your characters different? JK: Although Lan Wangji is a proper, upstanding rule abider, SH, tends to twist the rules for his own interest, whereas I follow the rules by the book. <He knew the rules better than I do in the beginning since I was newer. SH would make up rules to his advantage, where I was clueless before> 

SH:  Wei Wuxian is a mischievous soul who just wants to have fun like Jake because they value friendship and a happy environment, but unlike Lan Wangji and me, we're rather strict in practicing hard to achieve our goals and not waste time clowning around.  Jake loves puppies and his dog named Layla, whereas Wei Wuxian has a phobia of dogs.

4. Are there any roles that are reversed?  JK:  Yes.  When it comes to teasing, the roles are reversed.  SH like Wei Wuxian is usually the one who teases.  I'm like Lan Wangji, I'll go into panic mode when he teases me to then blush and run.  <But I'm getting better, I'll be able to stand my ground and counter with some doozy.> 

SH: I'm more comfortable at joking about these things than Jake.

5. Are there any of their powers you would want to use on each other?  SH: Yeah, Wei Wuxian's talisman ability to hypnotize Jake to do my bidding like laundry. <and other stuff we'll leave out>

6. If you have Lan Wangji silent spell, who would you use it on?  SH: Both Jay and Sunoo, even the director will cut them off because they can ramble at times.  You can catch their facial expression, sometimes, where they realize they need to stop talking but trying to figure out how. JK: We need a reverse spell for NI-KI.  But he's getting better.

7. Wei Wuxian has a dog phobia, do you guys have any phobias?  JK: I have a phobia of bugs.  SH: I have a fear of VR. There are videos of us reacting to our phobias.  Also, neither of us like horror movies, even though our concept is horror.

8. What's one thing you are impressed by the characters?  SH:  Lan Wangji's unwavering commitment to protecting Wei Wuxian. <because he's his boo>  JK: That's totally like SH who's fiercely protective of me. <because I'm his boo>

9. How is the format of the show similar to your episodes?   JK: Both are highly censored with regards to LGBTQ depictions and shipping.  SH: Both are focused on the 2 protagonists to deliver quality content.

10. What did you like about the storyline?  JK: It's about a community of supernaturally charged cultivators as they rid the land of evil & corruption.<they know what I like>  SH: The forbidden relationship that develops between the two characters takes center stage. <they know my struggles>

11. Any last thoughts?  SH: Yeah, they should make a k-drama version and cast us. <cuz the gwansang says I needed 2 jobs>   JK: And Layla can play Fairy.  I think our differences to the characters will play out differently so it won't feel entirely like a repeat.

SH: Maybe we should play opposite roles, to prove our acting chops and not be accused of just playing ourselves.  What if the script has some juicy scenes, are you going to be able to do that Jake?

JK: If the script calls for it, it's acting right? But it might get cut. And I don't know if our viewers are ready?      

SH: SK is not as strict as China.  So, you're only going to make out with me under the pretense of a script?           

JK:  What you're asking violates my rights to privacy.

SH: So you're going to leave your audience frustrated.

JK: No spoilers.  Timing is crucial, just like in a music score.  That's how chemistry/tension is derived.

SH: <just then SH wonders who's really in the driver seat.  Game on>

<Hot tub timer goes off>

JK: <changes the subject> Anyway, I've come across a manuscript I've been reading and I've been having these dream sequences which appear to be of us in past lives.

SH: You too.  We should probably compare notes when we have some time.

JK: I think something is going on that's bigger than us, and we are re-occurring agents <souls>.
