Michelle Dockery as Alice Kimber

"We don't have time to drop you back home before meeting with them pricks some Small Heath. You'll have to sit in the car and wait." Billy explained in a somewhat calm tone, however his aggression inevitably shone through. He'd been infuriated ever since he had found out the Peaky Blinders were taking away from his winnings at the races, which meant that everyone around him had to feel his wrath.

Alice was not exempt from it, despite being his wife.

Billy and Alice were a bizarre pairing for anyone looking in from the outside, and it was safe to say if Alice had a choice, she certainly would not have married him. But their marriage was a business transaction between Billy Kimber and her father, so she couldn't object.

Besides, he had a nice, large estate and Alice was given whatever she asked for. Even though she didn't like her husband, she couldn't complain about the high-class life she lived. Alice knew people suffered much worse fates than she did, so she was content.

She usually obeyed Billy in whatever he asked her to do, but today after a glass of wine or two, she felt a slither of confidence. "I don't want to sit in the car, I want to watch you do business, and have a drink."

She twisted her head so she was no longer staring out of the window, and instead set her pleading eyes on her husband. Alice knew if she annoyed him long enough about the request, he would give in.

Whilst he secured his gun inside his jacket and brushed back his greasy hair, his jaw clenched as he considered her words. Two of Kimber's men in the front were completely silent, but Alice could see them anxiously glancing back through the mirror to see what his response would be.

"No, I don't trust these ones." He answered coldly, not daring to look his wife in the eye. He knew she could get anything that way.

As the car bumped uncomfortably over the cobblestoned street, Alice huffed with agitation and turned back to stare at the dismal area. The sun had set low behind the grey houses and now the lane was almost empty, bar a few rogue children chasing one another. She couldn't help but smile at their games, but as they slowly came to a stop, her smile faded.

"Billy, I don't want to just stay here," Alice complained quietly as the men around her jumped out of the car with stern expressions on their faces. Standing on the dark road, Billy turned around as the anger he felt towards the peaky blinders came flooding back.

"You fucking stay here." He demanded, before strolling into the building that held a large sign saying 'The Garrison'. Alice rolled her eyes, slumping back against the chair as their accountant, Roberts, offered her a small smile as he too slid out of the car. He was the only one she got along with, most likely because he had some wits about him. The rest of Kimber's men were gormless, but that played to her advantage sometimes.

Outside the car door, Billy had left one of his men to make sure that Alice didn't make a run for it, most likely. However, she wanted to go into the pub herself, and she was damn sure she'd find a way.
