Shopping ☃︎

It's Christmas Eve and I'm going shopping with Chiaki so we can buy presents. I spent all night thinking of things I could get Hajime, but I still couldn't conjure up anything special. I could try cooking him something although I may blow up the kitchen in the process. That isn't a good idea. I could be classic and surprise him with a nice dinner outing, but that isn't special. And I don't even know his favourite place to eat.

I'm such a bad boyfriend. He is spending Today with his grandparents, so I have all morning and all afternoon to craft up something perfect. "What about this Nagito?" I looked around the corner of the store to see Chiaki holding a big stuffed teddy bear. "Why a teddy bear?" I asked confused. "I like it!" she giggled. "Just because you like it doesn't mean Hajime will," I sighed.

We have been looking for hours and I still haven't found anything. We managed to buy Kirigiri's stuff within 30 minutes of searching. We got her a serial killer colouring book since Chiaki says she's into the stuff, for some reason. We also bought her a murder mystery novel collection. We thought she would like that.

But I, I am still clueless. I have no idea what to get and absolutely nothing has caught my eye. I've seen chocolate and decorations, but they all seem irrelevant. I need something that represents us, not some stupid teddy bear.

"What about we check out this store Komaeda they are all about Christmas and couples' stuff!" she pointed to a small store at the back of the mall. "Sure," I sighed. We went inside and I was instantly overwhelmed by the mass amounts of gifts and products covering the walls. there were dolls, cakes, chocolates, clothes, ornaments, plants, literally everything imaginable. So much to look at!

I walked around for a few minutes with no luck until I heard Chiaki call again. I turned around to see her holding another teddy bear. "Chiaki, I told you no teddy bears," I chuckled. "But this one smells like gingerbread!" she pleaded giving it a squeeze. "Put it away." I crossed my arms. She put the bear back on the shelf. I looked at the time. Three thirty.

"let's try one more shop," Chiaki and I were almost out of options. "Fine."

"We need to find something that represents your relationship, something that proves you're so happy to have him around, or how lucky you are to have him."

That's it.

"Chiaki you're a genius!" I cheered running out of the mall. "Nagito!" she called. I texted her.

'I'll explain everything later.'

I sprinted home as fast as ever running to my back shed to pick out some tools. I searched for a while until I found what I needed. A chisel, a plank of wood and hammer. I did woodwork in eleventh grade, so I hope this turns out ok. I took the plank and started cutting out the shape I needed. Ever so carefully i chiselled and sanded it until it looked smooth. "Ow!" I looked down at my hand. "just a splinter." It took around two hours but soon enough I had finished it. I ran inside grabbing a thin gold jewellery chain from my drawer. "perfect!" I sprinted back to the shed and carefully slid the wood piece onto the delicate thin chain. I placed it in a small pastel green box and covered the necklace in tissue paper. I held the box admiring it for a moment.

"Nagito? Are you home?" I heard Hajime walk in through the front door. I quickly placed the box on the shelf running back into the house. "Yes, I'm here!" I rushed inside. "Why were you in the shed?" he tried to walk outside. "No reason! I like your scarf!" I tried to change to subject although I looked extremely suspicious. "Ok...?" Hajime seemed confused. "We need to go to the shops quickly before they close," I thought of a distraction, I also needed to get Chiaki something. "Ok...?" he laughed still confused.

We ran to the shops as fast as possible since they closed in less than 10 minutes. We made it just in time and I rushed into that crowded store from earlier. I went to the back of the store and found exactly what I needed, the same large teddy bear that smelled like gingerbread cookies. I walked to the counter and payed for it before running off with Hajime. He asked who it is for and I told him Chiaki spotted it earlier and wanted it. I wasn't going to buy it for her while she was there, so I had to quickly get it now. "Makes sense," He picked it up giving it a squeeze. "Ooh! It smells like gingerbread!"

"That's exactly what she said!" I giggled.

While Hajime was distracted, I made my way back to the shed to hide the small green box. While I was leaving, I noticed it was snowing again. quite heavily as well. Almost enough so that the ground seemed to already be coated. I heard that snow absorbs sound, technically it means during winter the world is just a little bit quieter than usual. I like that. I like it when its quiet. I sat down in a chair by my back door and hummed to myself as I watched the snowflakes fall around me. "I want you to know that I'm never leaving, cause I'm Mr snow till' death we'll be freezing," I like to sing to myself sometimes, its calming.

"You were my home, my home for all seasons. So, come on let's go." Another voice began. I paused for a moment. Hajime stood in the door giggling. "I love your voice," he smiled, I blushed. "Are you going to sing the rest?" He sat beside me. "Let's go below zero and hide from the sun."

"I love you forever and we'll have some fun," he interrupted. We were both silent for a moment hearing the sweet sounds of birds chirping. "Yes, let's hit the north pole and live happily. Please don't cry no tears now, it's Christmas baby. My snowman." Hajime's voice is surprisingly, really nice. Deep but so sweet at the same time. Angelic is a good way to describe it. "Your voice is beautiful," I intertwined my fingers with his. "Yours is nicer," he pulled me into a kiss. I pulled away, "I disagree," a smirked. "way to ruin a moment," he scoffed sarcastically. "I haven't ruined anything," I brought him into another kiss this time much deeper. I wrapped my arms around him pulling him into my embrace "I love you."

• Time Skip • (Dinner)

Hajime and I decided to try and cook something tonight. I have many recipe books, but they just sit on my bookshelf collecting dust. Hajime thought this would be a perfect opportunity to put them to use. We settled on Italian meatballs. They can't be that hard to make. Hajime said he had made them before so nothing could go wrong. But a lot still went wrong. I managed to tip over the jar of breadcrumbs and spill the sauce over the floor. I also burnt a few of them meatballs and accidently set a bunch of basil leaves on fire. although a lot did go wrong, we still managed to create a decent serving. "This is good!" Hajime chirped. "Better than I could do on my own, I seriously don't know what I would do without you," I sighed taking another big bite. "I'm so lucky to have you."

"you're so sweet." I blushed

Once we had finished dinner Hajime went home to spend the rest of the night with his parents leaving me alone to do whatever I please. I decided I should wrap Chaiki's present, so I did that and placed it under my brand-new Christmas tree. I also went back out to the shed and fetched Hajime's gift putting it in a small white bag. I put it beside Chiaki's teddy bear. Job well done If do say so myself. By the time I had finished cleaning up from dinner and preparing for tomorrow it was 11.30 pm so I decided to go to bed. I had nothing better to do.

I laid down on my bed a stared to the ceiling for a while until I finally fell asleep.

...

Knock! Knock! Knock! Knock! Knock!

"Huh?" I heard several knocks at my front door. I got up and walked down the stairs. I was hesitant to open it considering how late it was, but I decided to anyways. "Hajime?" he was standing at my front door freezing and in his pyjamas. "What are you doing?" I asked. "I realised that without me you'll be waking up on Christmas with no one, I can't imagine that, so I snuck out to make sure you weren't alone." He was shivering extremely. "Here come inside!" I grabbed Hajime shutting the door. "your so cold!" I hugged him to warm him up. "I don't want you to be lonely, so please, let me stay!" he begged. "Ok fine!"

Hajime smiled. We both walked up stairs and I fell asleep once again, but this time had Hajime by my side. I curled up next to him and before I knew it, the sun light could be seen shining through my bedroom window. "Merry Christmas."
