"This is it," Marcus bowed his head.
The sky was full of dark clouds, foreshadowing the event that was going to occur before the world pivots to chaos. The two boys were sitting on the cold pavement outside Gary's store.

Wrench takes another puff of his cigarette and sighed. "Yeah."
"We almost had it but- " Marcus was cut off by many alerts coming from the people's phones around them.
Wrench turned his head and laid it back, hitting the glass window behind him. His face showed no emotion since they already knew what was going to happen.
They observed everyone's emotional reactions and outbreaks. A few seconds later, the sound of a car crashing into a telephone pole wasn't too far in the distance. They looked over at the skyscrapers and to their belief, people were jumping out of the windows. The store's door opened and very few people began running out.
"Fuck, people are taking their lives so quickly." Marcus huffed out. "Imagine if this was just a setup. Like- this was intended so the population would decrease. We know how fucked up the government is."

"I doubt it." Wrench flinched slightly from the car that suddenly crashed a few doors down. "I think it's best if we go back downstairs." He got up and stepped on his cigarette. For the first time, he didn't put his mask on right away. He just held it in his hand. He offered to help Marcus up with the other and brightly smiled at him. They walked inside the empty store, then through the back, and waited for the door to open.
"You know, I haven't seen you smile Wrench and it's beautiful," Marcus blushed.
"It's w-w- what?" Wrench slightly stuttered with his eyes wide open.
The sliding door finally opened.
"Beautiful," Marcus repeated as he stared deeply into his blue eyes. Wrench got flustered so he walked into the hackerspace first and walked down the stairs.

It was empty too since they said their goodbye to Sitara and Josh before. They left to be with their family for the last few hours. As for Wrench and Marcus, they secretly want to spend their last few hours with each other. Possibly in those few hours, the power is going to be cut off. There was no point in running around the whole city because they could get killed early. Wrench grabbed two beers and handed one to M.
They both sat on the couch closely together, without acknowledging.

"You know what song fits this mood?" Wrench says while opening his beer.

"Mhm?"

"As the world caves in."

"Yeah literally." Then Marcus smiled slightly, he had an idea.

He pulled out his phone and began playing the song through the speakers. Marcus knew the lyrics, as well as Wrench, does. They never sang in front of each other, but it didn't matter anymore.

'Oh, boy, it's you that I lie with'
They knew that they meant each other. Wrench slowly looks at Marcus and they both were flustered and chuckling.
"This w-whole time?" Wrench's tone became serious now.
Marcus blushed, then frowned. "It's too late." tears formed in his eyes.
Wrench not knowing what to do, he panicked dropped his beer and gave Marcus a long hug.
"But at least we're here now, together. We're not dead yet." Wrench mumbled Marcus' shoulder.

"Yeah, we were going to die anyways at some point in our lives. Pftt.. we put ourselves in danger so many times I'm surprised we're not dead already." Marcus pointed out.

"We're not afraid of dying, we wouldn't have taken the many chances we did to save others." He leans back and looked deeply into his eyes. "And it sucks cause we were never together in the way that I envisioned us to be."

Marcus caressed his cheek. "I know." tears ran down his eyes as well.

"I would give it all back to be with you, for longer than the amount of time we have left." Wrench hasn't cried in front of Marcus like this before.
