Your POV:
Dear Padfoot,
I hope you're alright, it's starting to get colder here, winter is definitely on the way. In spite of being back at hogwarts, I feel more alone than ever. I know you of all people who understand. I miss and love you.

I walked the grounds alone as Naomi soared over me taking the letter to my father. As I passed Hagrid's hut I couldn't help but peer through the window, his hut has been deserted ever since the beginning of the term and it still was. I heard a loud cry and watched as one of the winged skeleton horses flew over me and into the forest. I watched it for a moment before deciding to chase after it.
I walk through the forest trudging over stumps and jumping over puddles. I finally reached a Grove full of the creatures, they all walked around peacefully and in the midst of it all, Luna Lovegood stood in shorts and bare feet despite the cold weather.
As I approached she continued to caress the creature. "Hello Y/N Black." I smiled, "hello Luna." I looked down, "your feet, aren't they cold?" She shrugged, "a bit. Unfortunately all my shoes have mysteriously disappeared I suspect nargles are behind it." I nodded, "yeah. I have some shoes that might fit you, if you would like to borrow them?" She shook her head, "no it's quiet alright."
I nodded, "if you say so. So are these... Thestrals?" She nodded, "yes, they're quite gentle really but people avoid them because they're a bit..." I stared at the creature in awe, "different." We began to walk forward, "So Luna if they can only be seen by people who have seen death... you've seen someone die?"
She nodded, "my mom. She was a quite extraordinary witch, but she did like to experiment. One day one of her spells went badly wrong. I was nine." "I'm sorry," "yes it was quiet horrible. I do feel very sad about it sometimes. But I've got dad." She reached in her bag and pulled out two apples handing me one, "we both believe you by the way."
I knelt down and held out the apple and slowly but surely a baby Thestral slowly approached and ate the apple from my hand and I stood. "That he who must not be named is back," her eyes widened as she went on. "that you fought him, that the ministry and the prophet are conspiring against you and Dumbledore."
I smiled, "thanks...it seems you two are about the only ones." She then fed her apple to another Thestral, "I don't think that's true. But I suppose that's how he wants you to feel, alone. Because just you alone is still threatening but not as threatening as you and your friends together."

After I had left Luna it was around breakfast time and I approached the Gryffindor table and my four friends plus Ginny turned to me. "Y/N!" Hermione said a bit worried and I looked around. "May I join you?" Hermione looked at the group and they all smiled warmly. She opened her mouth to speak but was interrupted by Umbridge's shout, "excuse me professor but what exactly are you insinuating?" I turned and gave my friends with a warning look before going to see what was happening. "I am merely requesting," McGonagall said as the two professors walked up the stairs.
"That when it comes to my students your stick to the prescribed disciplinary actions." Umbridge frowned, "last I checked Miss Black is in Slytherin house." McGonagall held herself higher, "as deputy headmistress, all students are my students." I stared at the scene as my friends joined my side.
"But it sounds that your questioning my authority in my own classroom Minerva." Umbridge went up a step, "not at all Dolores." McGonagall went up a step as well. "Merely you're medieval methods." Umbridge shook her head, "I'm sorry dear, but to question my practice is to question the ministry. And by extension Minister himself, I am a tolerant woman but the one thing I do not stand for is disloyalty."
