Chapter One

"Oh my gosh dad, hurry up" I put my bags in the trunk and Dani put hers in the trunk too. We are going to see my sister, her fiancé and my niece. I haven't seen them since mom funeral. We all scattered, I left New York and then my dad got sick so I moved him down to North Carolina with me. I finished college here two months ago, I have a bachelors in Forensic Science. My best friend Aaliyah, lives in New York but she comes down for holidays, if she can. She's an hairstylist and makeup artist for this company in New York. I told her I can open a model agency and she can work with me but she likes New York and I won't force her to leave.

"I'm here y'all can stop rushing me" I put his bags in the trunk then closed it.

"Does Jamie know we're leaving" my dad laughed, Jamie is his female friend. He tries to act like they are just friends to protect my feelings. Him getting a girlfriend is not the end of the world I will be fine.

"Yes she knows, now go we got an 8 hour drive" we chuckled. Turned on music and started down the road.

Three hours later

"Hey girl" Aaliyah said on cue

"How you doin" my dad sing making me chuckle so I sung the next line

"My name is Charlie last name Wilson"

"I was wondering if I could take you out
Show you a good time, invite you to my house
Here is my number, girl you can call me
And don't forget it baby, the name is Charlie" we all song together we kept singing until the next song was on.

"That was ya mama favorite song" I smiled and nodded.

"Yea she used to blast that song so loud"

"Oh yessss girl, you remember when she came to pick us up after practice and she had that song on like 100 we opened the door and she had just got her hair done and had the shades on" I laughed at the memory Aaliyah brought back to the front of my mind. Aaliyah and I have been friends since we were 16, her cheer team was going against mine and we started talking before the competition. Then she moved from city to East Harlem with her grandma.

"Karin you driven for four hours now, you want me to do the rest"

"No, I'll stop so we can eat and use the bathroom"

"It's not dark yet and it won't be for another three hours I can drive"

"Okay you can drive for two hours dad, Aaliyah can drive for the rest" they nodded and I got off the exit and went to McDonald's.

Travis POV

"Ma the ham don't fit in this pot"

"Then get a bigger pot son" I reached in the cabinet and grabbed a bigger pot.

"Travis you know Kennedy's sister is coming down here, I heard she's single"

"Ma, you know I can't date" my ma tries to set me up on dates all the time but dating isn't easy for a professional football player. I'm constantly moving, if it's not a holiday I don't have the day off and some times I work holidays too.

"Baby, you just need to be flexible. And a understanding woman but you're not giving them the chance" I put the ham on the stove to boil then I washed my hands.

"I'll think about it ma" I went to see what Tori was doing.

"Hey ugly, what are you doing" She grabbed her pillow and threw it at me but it hit the wall.

"You suck" she had headphones in and was writing music. I took my slides off and laid on her bed next to her.

"Sing me something" she chuckled got up and grabbed her guitar. She tuned it and then started singing we belong together by Mariah Carey.
