T.W.: hospital

Virgil bit his lip as he waited in the office for Patton and Logan. How was he going to tell them that their father was in the hospital? How long should he keep them out of school? Should he go back to the hospital with them today or tomorrow?

"Papa!" Patton smiled, his backpack bouncing as he ran up to his dad.

"Hey Patt." Virgil managed a smile as he hugged his son, "where's Logan?"

"He's asking Mr. Tamaki a question." Patton said, "he was our sub in nutrition today!"

Virgil chuckled, "that sounds cool."

Patton nodded, "so why are we leaving early?"

Virgil froze for a moment, "um..."

At that moment, Logan walked into the office.

"Hi Papa, sorry for taking so long." Logan said.

Virgil smiled softly, "it's okay L."

"So why are we leaving early?" Logan asked as they walked out to the car.

Virgil stopped and sighed. He knelt down to the boys level.

"When Dad left for work this morning..." Virgil started, "he got into a car crash."

"What?" Patton whispered, tears filling his eyes.

"Is dad okay!?" Logan yelled, his fists gripping his backpack tighter.

Virgil nodded, "He's okay, but he's in a coma."

"W-whats a coma?" Patton sniffed.

"It's like... A really deep sleep." Virgil explained, "and the doctors don't know when he'll wake up."

"B-but I want to talk to dad!" Patton cried, "I'm gonna miss him if he's gone for too long!"

"It's okay Patt." Virgil hugged the ten year old, "he'll wake up eventually."

"What about Remy? Or Janus, or Remus, or Prince?" Logan asked, "are they all in a coma too?"

Virgil nodded sadly, "Dad's whole system is gonna be gone for a while."

Logan slip quivered, "s-so no more Crofters parties with Ree?"

"Oh L..." Virgil pulled his other son into a hug as well, "only until they wake up. Then you can have more Crofters parties."

Logan nodded, burying his head in Virgil's shoulder. Virgil squeezed the twins a little tighter.

"Virgil, you're getting too stressed out. Let me front for a little." Emile whispered.

Virgil nodded, noticing just how exhausted he was mentality. He let himself fall back as Emile stepped forward.

Emile took a deep breath and stood up, "Okay kiddos, were gonna go see Dad now."

Patton smiled a little, "okay Emi!"

"How do they always know?" Thomas chuckled.

Emile smiled as he started the car. The boys just knew them too well.

It was strangely quiet during the car ride to the hospital. Patton usually wouldn't stop talking about his day. Emile guessed they were just worried.

"We're all worried." Virgil mumbled.

"Go rest!" Thomas huffed.

Emile chuckled lightly at his head mates, "Okay kiddos, ready?"

Patton and Logan nodded, leaving their backpacks as they climbed out of the car. The small family walked up to the reception desk. Patton held Emile's hand, sticking close by him.

"We're here for Roman Sanders." Emile told the nurse.

The nurse smiled, "room 204."

Emile nodded, "thank you."

Patton squeezed Emile's hand as they walked, "I don't think I like hospitals..."

"It's okay Patton." Logan said, "it's where people go to get well."

"But it's also where people go when they're hurt!" Patton cried.

"Hey, hey," Emile said, "it's okay to not like hospitals. But we're here for Dad right now, okay?"

Logan and Patton nodded.

"Okay Emi." Patton wiped his eyes.

"This is Dad's room." Logan said, his hand on the doorknob.

"Go ahead." Emile nodded.

Logan slowly turned the knob. Patton almost started crying again when he saw his dad.

"Daddy!" Patton sobbed, running to the bed.

Logan just stood by the door, his lip trembling.

"Are you okay Lo?" Emile asked.

Logan shook his head. Emile frowned, hugging the boy tightly.

"It'll be okay Lo." Emile told him, "Dad will wake up eventually."

Logan nodded into Emile's chest. Patton came up and hugged his twin as well.

"It's okay Lolo." Patton sniffed, "this is where people go to get well. So Dad's gonna get well."

Logan nodded again, sobs wracking his small body. Emile just held the boys tighter. They were going to get through this. One way or another, they were going to get through this.
