In a few minutes Chase would be knocking on my front door. I was the only one home. My mom and dad was taking Lena to a birthday party.
I'm home alone and someone I barely know is coming to my house, I though to myself.
There was a knock at the door. I jump up to let them in. Chase was staring at me. He had on regular clothes like he always does, but something was different.
I moved out the way so he could step in. "Come in," I said.
He sat down in the spot I was going to sit in on the couch
No big deal, I thought. I sat across from him in a chair.
"Scared to sit by me?" He asked with a smirk.
"No I-yes-maybe-," I cut myself off before could mark it worse. I felt heat rise to my cheeks.
The only thing he did was laugh.
"Okay, the essay is about what we do after school," I said.
He didn't answer. He just looked around his eyes landed on the scripture on the wall.
"Your family believes in God?" he asked.
"Yeah, do you?"
"Why should I. He was never there when I needed him," he snapped.
"He's always been there you just have to believe," I snapped back.
We sat in silence for a few minutes. I grabbed a paper so I could write notes.
"What do you do after school," I asked quietly.
"You want to know what I do after school?" He said with hatred in his eyes." I go do chores fir people so I can get money to help my mom and sister. I have no time for fun, I barely was able to come here"
He stopped and muttered something I could barely hear
"All of this because of my father," he said barely over a whisper.
