I asked my mom about Kay, it took some convincing.

It was Friday night and Kay was going to come get me. I didn't know what we was doing, she never told me. My dad was out of town, Lena was at our grandma's house.

I heard a knock at the door and rushed downstairs to see Kay. She was wearing a maroon shirt, black skirt, and gray leggings. She had her makeup the way she normally did.

"Hello," my mom said as she came out the kitchen. "Where are y'all going."

My mom wasn't real sure about me going, I could tell. But she said I was sixteen, I need a little freedom.

   "Skating rink," Kay said.

   My mom started thinking.

"I guess, but be home by ten," she said.

Kay looked at me. "Your wearing that?"

I looked down. I was wearing what I wore to school, a simple shirt and jeans.

   "Yeah," I said

"No," she said and started walking up stairs. "Show me to your room."

I let her in my room and showed her my closet. She started digging. She pulled out a navy blue shirt with lace sleeves, a pair of dark skinny jeans, and my black vans. I never really worn a lot of the stuff in my closet and most was for church and special events.

She handed them to me and I went to the bathroom to change. When I came out she had a bag of makeup.

   "No, I don't do makeup," I said

"Please," she said giving me puppy eyes.

"Okay, I guess," I finally said.

She started doing my make up. When she finished I went to look in the mirror. She did just enough makeup to tell I was wearing it, but it wasn't dark. It actually looked good

She squealed. "You look amazing. Now let's go."

I grabbed my necklace and and followed her to her car.
