Mal's POV

I wake up to the blaring sound of my alarm, 5:30am, bright and early. I look out the window of my Cali apartment, the sun is bright and beautiful... I wish it would just swallow the earth already.

I pull myself out of bed and walk into the bathroom, leaving a trail of clothes behind me. I hop into the shower, And stand there for the majority of my time before work just letting the hot water hit my skin, feeling relaxed and not at all thinking about the amount of people I have to face when I get to work.

Once I have successfully wasted all of my time just standing there, I grab my standard, run of the mill shampoo and lather, rinse repeat....

Once I'm out of the shower, I let my hair air dry and begrudgingly tie back my loose beachy waves. I apply light natural makeup, not wanting to attract any unwanted attention from any gender..

After making myself look semi-presentable, I stumble to my bathroom door and opening it into my bedroom, while cursing my past self for not picking up my cloths. I walk out into my room pulling on some black ripped jeans and my dads old nascar t-shirt  tucking in the front so I don't entirely look like I'm "not trying".

Finally heading out of my apartment into the hallway and running down the stairs. Finally reaching the door, I take a deep breath before pushing it to open. I walk to my car, noticing moving vans but not think too much about it.

I get to my car, and drop my keys as I go to unlock the door "damn it Mal" I whisper to myself but turning around quickly as I hear a cherry "Good Morning!"  I look to see a tall man in black skinny jeans and black T-shirt and sunglasses perched on his nose. He flashes me a bright toothy smile. I take in his pale skin thinking to myself that he must not be from here. "Hi" I wave back as I get in my car.

Pulling  into the "Wayne's Waffles" Waffle House parking lot, I turn down my music that I was using to drown out the the thoughts that it was another day working this shitty job in this shitty city with no one who seems to care about anything but themselves. The only people who don't suck is my best friend Mitch and Mr. Neil, my regular customer at the Waffle House.

I walk in, getting myself situated at the counter, waiting for 7:00am to hit, that's when Mr. Neil comes in.

7:00am! My favourite time of the day. "Hi Mr. Neil!" I say getting his attention "oh hello dear, I didn't see you there." He gives me a kind smile. "So are you finally going to venture to this side of the counter today and have breakfast with me?" He asks  giving me a hopeful smile. I laugh and give him a sigh saying "I wish I could Mr. Neil, but I gotta work, you know how that goes"

"Oh I sure do honey, well maybe another time". I turn to help the next family that comes in, getting them seated.

"Usual today?" I ask Mr. Neil, "yes of course honey" he says in his cherry thankful manner.

After a long 8 hour shift, I'm packing up and heading home.

Pulling into my parking spot at my building, I notice the moving truck is gone and I'm thankful I don't have to interact with anyone right now.

I walk into the front doors of the building and notice my phone buzz I look down to check and- "oh sorry love". I look up to see the man I had said hi to this morning. "Hi I'm Harry"...
