Mal's POV:
After waking up from possibly the worst hangover I've had since high school, I force myself to get ready and go into work. I remind myself that saving to move means I need to work.
I pull into Wayne's waffles and set up my station as soon as I get into the restaurant. Another 7:00am to 3:00pm shift today so I'll be home and in comfy clothes, eating Cheerios by 4:00.
I look to see the door open, assuming it would be Mr. Neal but instead it is a different, familiar face.
Harry. The same happy bright smile I've been greeted with three times now.
"Good morning, booth, table, or bar?" I ask in a cherry tone. "Umm tabel please" he responds with a charming smile. I lead him to the open table and he thanks me.
"Ok I'll give you minute to look at the menu and I'll be back to take your order." I say. "Ok thank you, and um.. this may sound strange and I will probably embarrass myself if I'm wrong but, you look familiar, have we met"? He asks and I give a cheerful smile. "We have actually" I say back. "We met the other day in the lobby of our building, I'm Mal". He has a look of realization on his face "ohhhh right, yeah Mal, I'm Harry, well I guess you knew that, anyway.. um I didn't know you worked here."
Well it would be creepy if you did dude, we have had 2 minor interactions and clearly they didn't seem to stick in your brain protected by that frustratingly perfect looking hair.. I think to myself. "Uh yeah.. I've worked here for about a year now". As I finish my sentence I hear the door open to reveal Mr. Neal, and I cut Harry off before he can speak again. "Oh I gotta go get him seated, I'll be back in a sec". I say with a smile and head back to behind the bar seating area.
"Hi Mr, Neal, the usual I assume". I say with a genuine smile. "Yes honey, you know me so well". I laugh a little "well I guess that's a quality of a good server" I say trying to seem confident "right you are.. the best server I have ever had". He says smiling.
After Mr, Neal's order is put in, I move my way back to Harry. "So made a decision yet?" I ask and he nods. "Alrighty what can I get you." The next thing he says wakes me up out of my robot-esque way of doing my job. "Yes, can I get the classic waffle meal with a coffee and maybe if you have some.. some of your time." He says with a kind of cheeky smile. Uhhhh I stare at him a little too long and then snap out of it with hearing Mr. Neal's voice from the bar speak up and say "don't waste your time son, I've been trying her to sit with me for a year now and she is always too busy". Harry smiles at Mr. Neal and then looks at me a little concerned and says "ok scratch the invitation for your time. Blink twice if you need help". And I just laugh knowing he doesn't know the dynamic of Mr. Neal's and my relationship. He asks kind of confused "ok what's going on?" He asks with a slight laugh. "Oh he's just an old man who comes in here. He is a cutie and kinda like my grandpa, nothing creepy." I laugh "promise" I say with a smile and wink, to which he smiles.
Over the next few days, Harry is in here everyday at the same time. Huh? Wonder why.
