"how much further up do we have to go? it's getting dark."
you whined as you watched namjoon fumble with the large map.
"not much longer. just a few more minutes before we reach the cabin."
he replied, turning to you with a smile.
your face dropped at his words.
"this whole hike was supposed to be 'just a few minutes'!"
you said with widened eyes.
"are we lost, joonie?"
you ask, squinting your eyes at him.
"we are not lost!"
he answered immediately before folding up the map and putting it in his pocket.
you rolled your eyes at how quiet it was. you'd both stopped walking and joonie was tinkering with some sophisticated navigating device that you didn't understand.
"joon i think the cabin's that way."
you said pointing southeast of where you were standing.
namjoon looked to where you were pointing and shook his head.
"the cabin's north baby."
he said before looking back down.
you kissed your teeth and ran your fingers through your hair.
"we've been going your way since we left this morning and clearly it's not working, so it won't hurt if we just go my way."
you reasoned, folding your arms for emphasis.
namjoon sighed, knowing there was no point in arguing and let you lead the way.
as you walked, you felt it get colder and your feet started hurting.
"joonie can we take a break?"
you asked, wiggling your ankles.
"right now?"
he asked, looking down at his watch.
"i don't think we can afford to, baby. if we stop now we'll definitely be out here in the dark longer than we have to, and that's assuming this is the right way home."
namjoon said, taking off his backpack.
"if you're really tired, i can carry you the rest of the way."
joonie handed you a water bottle as he unzipped the bag and pulled out his jacket.
you put it on and carried the bag before hopping on his back.
"okay, which way did you say it was?"
he asked, facing different directions.
you showed him the way, fighting to keep your eyes open. before long, you were asleep with your head resting against namjoon's back.
after twenty more minutes of walking, you guys reached the cabin. namjoon shook his head with a grin on his face. of course you'd been right.

sorry this was so quick, i wrote it in probably 10 minutes but i'm finally on break and i've never felt more free 😏 i'm excited to work on my writing this winter break so you can be expecting that (hopefully). also, i wrote this on my phone, that's why there's no gif or meme but i'll come put one in later today. thank you for reading :)))
