It had been a month after they kissed and him telling her that he loved her.

It was an accident, she was vulnerable and being the stupid gentleman he is he said he'd wait for her.

Liz was washing the dishes because at least that's something she can manage doing. Doing the dishes and singing a song, looking out the window at the beautiful autumn sky, brown leaves in the trees and over the ground, approaching sunset.

"I've got a suitcase of memories that I almost left behind"

"Time after time"

Silly song. It was something she found in Avan's old record cabinet. Way back.

"Time, time, time"

"But you say to go slow but I fall behind"

"Time after time after time "

She finishes up, puts the silverware in the drawers, and reaches for the bottle of wine on the kitchen table, pouring herself a small glass.

It had been a month since he told her he loved her.

She was at the Window creek bar with her best friend. Well, the other best friend, the one she's actually talking to and not being complicated with. Ariana is twirling a pen in the air, she normally does that when she's preoccupied.

"Are you even listening to me?" Liz complained.

"Yeah, yeah. Just, you know, a lot to think about." Ariana makes a weak smile.

"So, I don't know why I put myself in this silly situation!" Liz exclaims. "I mean, why does he always have to be such a perfect gentleman about things? Sure, I did brush him off, and he told me he'd give me time but..."

"You miss him."

"Yeah." Liz sighs.

"And now you don't want to lose the upper hand, and you're too proud to make the first move."

Liz sticks out her tongue at her. "Did you know what he said to me the last time? 'Nice hair' That was it! Two words! Then he was busy looking the other way the rest of the evening..."

"That was... five weeks ago, right?" Ariana chuckled quietly.

Liz looks truly miserable, nursing the martini in her hand, biting her lower lip.

"You know you're being a bit immature." Ariana stares at her.

Liz looks down at the table. "Yeah, I know. It's just the more days that go by, the harder it seems to be to come to a decision."

Ariana fills in. "... if you're playing the waiting game with him, it might be really hard to win."
