Just some short stories from a prompt book I got to get the cogs in my brain to start working. They will most likely cover a few different genres and, to be honest, won't be very good. I appreciate any tips, feedback, and constructive criticism from any seasoned writers! Please enjoy my interpretations of these prompts :)

[#10 IN REALISTIC - 10/07/2019] [COMPLETED] The year was 2118. All seemed normal; normal, until you saw the dust kiss the sky; a mix of brown and white against an infinite blue. Our planet had changed quite a bit in the past 50-60 years. Most financially extractable petroleum had been drained clean by 2048, and like insects to the light, coal soon followed. I mean, it was never meant to be a problem; most estimates said we'd find viable alternatives by then. But we were so preoccupied with getting the last barrel of oil out, we never stopped to ask what we'd do after it was out. And now, we had to look up and wonder if our place was among the stars, or on the burning dust. --- Sci-Fi Adventure inspired heavily by Christopher Nolan's Interstellar. "The Withered Land, The Empire Falls: Abyssium" is another early tale in the epic saga of D'Spayr's haunted youth, set three years Earth-time after the events of "Hell's Avatar" and nine years BEFORE he meets his comrades, Nygeia and Lumynn. He falls into the role of sellsword as he infiltrates the cabal of thuggish, bloodthirsty criminals among the forces of the government's army while assigned to the soon-to-be decommissioned moonbase of "Pex'Insava" orbiting some 380,000 miles above the surface of Teshiwahur. There, along with his scheming and duplicitous brother, he meets the artificially-evolved super-soldiers called "The Fae-spawn" and he accepts duties in one of their brigade-units as a mercenary consultant. The brigade runs afoul of a clandestine scheme to conquer Pex'Insava by insurrectionist terrorists using the Emperium's own fascist, anti-human mutant force, a ferocious Special Operations Counter-Insurgency military unit known as "The Nahztreme".
