I have read a lot of Merlin oneshots and fanfics but can't seem to find exactly what I want to read, so I thought I'd give it a try. Enjoy. In a world of myth and a time of magic, the two sides of the same coin will join up and overcome all their troubles. Their names? Merlin and Arthur. Basically, this is a cliche, you have the first words your soulmate is ever going to say to you on your wrist, au, y'all know the drill. Also, bit of a disclaimer, I hate Gwen, for, reasons, so if you like Gwen, DO NOT READ THIS!

In which Merlin is court sorcerer, and the knights bet that they can beat Merlin in a fight. Merlin happily accepts the challenge, knowing well that the knights of Camelot don't stand much of a chance against him. He is the most powerful sorcerer in the world after all. Meanwhile, Arthur struggles to keep his feelings for Merlin under wraps. Merlins a sassy shit, and Arthur's in love with Him, obviously.

Arthur figures out Merlin has magic/Merlin tells him - this story has two alternative versions of chapter one but the rest is the same. Both begin in season 5 episode 5 when Arthur has to decide whether to save Mordred by legalising magic. What follows is how the story might have played out if Merlin had revealed his magic/Arthur found out about Merlin's magic at this stage - would Mordred still have joined Morgana? Would Arthur still have died? Read to find out. Obviously I do not own Merlin
