Hello everyone! This is an assignment I had to write for my English class, but I thought some of you might enjoy it. Our task was to read the story "The Most Dangerous Game", and then change or alter the ending ourselves. "The Most Dangerous Game" is an adventure short-story that was written by Richard Connell in 1924. I decided to take the final battle with Rainsford and Zaroff(which is very rushed in the story itself) and elaborate on it. If you'd like to fully understand what's going on, and you haven't read "The Most Dangerous Game", I highly suggest you do. It shouldn't be that hard to find online. Thanks, guys! "Rainsford, please don't leave, " Zaroff whispered, tracing his fingers along Rainsford's' wrist. "I'm sorry I can't." Rainsford started to turn away but Zaroff grabbed his wrist and spun him around. Their faces were now inches apart. Rainsford could feel his heartbeat quicken. The room felt cramped, hot air mingled between their slow breathes. As they began edging closer the tip of Rainsford's nose barely brushed against Zaroff's, sending excited shivers down his spine. Rainsford cleared his throat and began to speak again, his voice just barely audible. "Zaroff I have to tell you something important. It's about t-" But before he could finish the door to the bedroom jolted open. The men jumped away in surprise as a tall figure stood in the doorway. It was Ivan, Zaroff's brooding manservant. "The Most Dangerous Game", also published as "The Hounds of Zaroff", is a short story by Richard Connell, first published in Collier's on January 19, 1924. The story features a big-game hunter from New York City who falls off a yacht and swims to what seems to be an abandoned and isolated island in the Caribbean, where he is hunted by a Russian aristocrat. The story is inspired by the big-game hunting safaris in Africa and South America that were particularly fashionable among wealthy Americans in the 1920s. Ps.
