Lucy Heartfilia had a normal life. Normal parents, normal grades, a normal house. But one day, terrorists strike, and Lucy is stuck right in the middle of it. Recently orphaned with nowhere to go, Lucy attends a boarding school called Fairy Tail.

It doesn't take long for her to realize she didn't come out of the attack without her own scars. When she is diagnosed with a brain injury called Verbal Dysdecorum, no one wants to befriend her. It also makes her a target. Some people are okay. Levy, Erza, Lisanna, Gray, even Gajeel, but the rest are just flat out mean.

That is, until a new boy, Natsu Dragneel, transfers. Despite prominent warnings, Natsu sees Lucy and decides to befriend her. He tells her things no one else knows, and Lucy finally finds someone she can trust again.

Natsu has a choice. Either finally create the link between Lucy and society that will provide her with treatment for her horrible misfortune, or be like all the rest, and push her even farther into the depths of loneliness.
