"Love is Dangerous" is a short story written by S. S., a girl from Northern Italy. It tells the story of Charlotte Cornell, a policewoman who works in Bath, in the South of England. Her life there is almost perfect; she has many friends and is very happy about her job. Everything starts to change when some weird writings appear on the walls of an abandoned building, and she realizes that she could have some enemies. But who, exactly? Maybe her previous colleagues, the people she worked with a couple of years before, when she lived in Newcastle, her hometown. She had a good career there but Charlotte decided to move away when...she started to be the victim of unfair criticisms. She could not stand that situation anymore. Now, her investigation in Bath becomes increasingly complicated, until she could not be sure about anything anymore. She will have to "relive her memories", face her past and meet some old "friends" and, finally, even to risk her own life just to try to achieve what she deserves. After all, she just wants to be happy, is she asking too much? "Love is Dangerous" focuses on Charlotte's life as a cop, and especially on her investigation to find out the truth about a tragic event happened in Newcastle, but there is also room for feelings in this short story, like friendship and love. "Love is Dangerous" is a short story written by me, S. S., in 2017. It was the first story I wrote completely in English and, especially at the beginning, it really seemed like a difficult challenge. However, after a while everything started to be natural and the adventures of Charlotte Cornell took life in an unexpected and interesting way. The text was submitted to a contest but did not win, therefore I have recently decided to publish it here online. I really hope you can enjoy this short but involving story.
