Emma Stark was born to Tony Stark and Valerie Johnson after a one night stand. Tony didn't know she existed for the three years of her life until she showed up at hi doorstep after an accident involving her mother, who was a SHIELD Scientist, had taken place while testing the tesseract, killing Valerie. Emma just so happened to be at work with Valerie that day and was the sole survivor of the incident. She did, however gain powers from the explosion that she would not discover until years later.
