Serenity Skye Haywood was born and raised in Coal Valley, West Virginia, a small and poor town stuck and far behind in times. Money was scarce, and nobody could afford anything. Serenity's life there was never easy. She didn't know her father, and her mother was less than perfect. Tragedy strikes her life, and she is forced to decide to leave Coal Valley once and for all. It wasn't just the unfortunate events that drove her out of Coal Valley; it was more than that. She had to run away.
    
    She travels wherever she can on the little money she has and ends up in Seaside Cove, South Carolina, a charming town entirely different from what Serenity is used to. Full of entitled and spoiled young people who don't understand what it means to struggle, Serenity attempts to start a new life there but finds it will come with heavy challenges; she encounters residents of the well-to-do community who don't like her being there. She doesn't fit into their world. However, not all residents dislike her, and she finds friendships amongst the pushback. As time passes, her true nature is revealed to those who would want her to return home. The stories of their lives and their secrets are brought to light, and Serenity proves to be the one who truly understands them.
