It's a hard life Part 10

Morning soon comes, waking up you feel like someone is siting on the bed. Siting up rubbing your eyes you see it's Cletus siting on the end of the bed with his back to you. " Cletus? "

He moves a little as he hears you, talk and looks back at you with a smile. " Hey Dove, hope I didn't wake you. "

You smile back and come up behind him and hug him laying your body on his back. " You did not wake me up. Is everything alright Cletus? "

His smile goes away as he looks  to his hands. " Yeah just, Have something on my mind. "

" Oh?"

" You being with me puts you're life in danger. I don't think you should go anywhere by yourself anymore. "

You pause and think of what he was saying. " You can't be around me all the time Cletus. I have work and."

" Do you really think you can go back to work and have a normal life with me? Especially after someone just tried to kill you for helping me? They saw your face they probably know everything about you now. " Carnage starts to crawl up his neck from his rage.

You sit back from him looking to the side holding back tears from him yelling. " I.... I'm sorry."

He turns around and sees he upset you and pulled you in hugging you. " No, I'm sorry I just don't want them to get you. "

You hug him back shaking as you do. " I can't just hide my hole life and I can't have you putting that burden on yourself. "

He starts to rub your back. " It's not a burden, I'm use to keeping my eyes open so it's nothing to me. The problem is I can't really go around town without worry of someone knowing who I am. "

" Cletus, I.... don't want you to get hurt." You feel tears go down your cheeks. " You should just keep yourself safe. "

He lifts your chin up and smiles softly at you and clears your tears away with his finger. " What kind of boyfriend would I be if I didn't protect you? " He kisses you on the forehead. " I'm sorry for putting all this on you. Especially after last night I should be greeting you with a smile."

Holding him close you think about last night and how close you felt to him making love. " Cletus, I want to bare it with you. "

He smiles and holds you close. " I wish I new you when I was a kid."

You look up to him and smile softly back at him. " Why is that? "

" Because... then maybe I would of went down a better path. And you wouldn't have to live like this because of me."

" Maybe, I know this may sound silly but. How about we imagen what it would of been like if we did? "

He laughed and let go of you. " That does sound silly (Y/N). But all bite, how do you think we would of met? " He smiles as he sits in a chair looking at you on the bed. 

You sit and think for a moment. " Well we would of met in a park maybe? " You feel silly. 

He smiles at you and looks up and thinks. " Guess It would be easier if I told you more about my past. I grow up in a not so loving house hold My mom cared more about her dog then me. And my dad was always working and when he was home. He was drunk and beat me for whatever my mom said I did. Oh and I had a Grandmother that beat me too. My mom tried to kill me. Then my dad killed my mom for it. Then I ended up in an orphanage where the kids beat and teased me. " 

You look sad and have a hard time getting the words out. " I'm sorry, you had to go throw that Cletus. " You feel a tear go down your cheek. 

" Hey dove, know need to say sorry it's not your fault. " He smiles softly to help calm you. " And it's not like I didn't do bad things myself...."

You get the tears off of your cheeks. " I think you don't realize this but I think I did know you as a kid. " 

He looks at you confused. " Oh? " 

You look down at your hands and take a deep breath. " I didn't realize it till now. Do you remember a night when you where hiding on a playground. And you where crying and a little girl asked you why you where crying? " 

He sits back in his chair and thinks looking around in his memories. " I... don't recall that sorry. " He looks to the side placing his hand on the table. " Must of been someone else sweetie." 

You walk to him from the bed and smile. " I guess I was mistaken, sorry all see about making us something for breakfast.  " You walk to the kitchen and look for something to eat. 

Cletus hears Red in his head. " Why did you just lie to her? " " Because I think it's best if she doesn't remember. Besides she is here now with me anyway so it doesn't matter. " He looks at her and smile softly his eye light up as he thinks about her. " I can see your memories and I see no reason not to tell her."  He sighs from Red bugging him in his mind. " Why does it matter to you Red? " " We did say she is are mate, that's why we care. Maybe we should join with her instead?  " " You wouldn't do that... Besides we need each other Red we become sick and weak apart. " Red makes a growling sound.

"I think we should go shopping Cletus. There is not much to work with here. " You showing his that the fridge is bare. 

He walks over to you and looks around the kitchen. " Looks like I'm going out for some food. " 

" I want to come to." 

" You are staying here (Y/N) it's safe here. " He said giving you a look like a father gives to a kid.

" I'm not staying in this place for the rest of my life. All go crazy if I can't go outside. " She crosses her arms standing her ground. " Besides what if something happens wall you are gone? Be better if I am with you so you can keep me safe right? " 

He sighs. " You make a good point.... fine get ready and we will go get breakfast." 

" Yeah!" You hug him and run off to get yourself ready. He smiles and hugs you back and watches you as you walk to the bedroom and close the door. Time passes and you come out in a hoodie and pants. " How do I look? I thought something to hide my face would be best. " 

He looks you up and down then a smile comes across his face. " You look fine, we should grab you some close that fit you better. " He picks you up and Carnage takes over and smiles at you. They jump out the window holding you close and swing down landing on the ground. Then letting you go as Carnage goes back into Cletus. " Let's go, remember to keep a low profile." 

You smile and take his hand and pull on him and start running to the city street's. " Haha let's go I'm hungry! " 

He holds your hand back and starts laughing. " Haha I thought I was hungry but Iook's like you are more so then me. " You soon run into the city streets, he makes sure to hold you're hand so he doesn't lose you. 

" Let's go there." She points to a grocery store. 

He rubs the back of his neck and looks around not responding to you. 

" Cletus?" You look at him wondering what he was thinking. 

" Huh? Sorry just busy keeping an eye out. You lead the way little Dove. " 

Feeling annoyed with his lack of attention you take him to the store. "I understand you are keeping an eye out. But You have to relax at least a little. " 

He looks down at you and smiles. " I just want to keep you safe. But all pay better attention when you talk. " 

You sigh then smile back at him. " Thank you, now let's get more meat for you two. " 

He seems to perk up along with red hiding on his shoulder. " I did say I would bring home the bacon. " You both get everything you need and soon head out to the streets again. " Did you have to buy so much? " He said as he helps carry ten bags of food. 

" Well the less tips the better. And you do eat way more then me eating for two and all. "

His cheeks go red slightly. " You make it sound like I'm expecting. " 

She giggles. " Sorry. " 

" I guess let's go back, next time you are carrying  all this. " He said with a smile.
