A bad past Part 7

You wake up in the middle of the night hearing sounds in the kitchen. You sit up and look over to see Cletus looking around in the fridge. You get up from the couch and walk over to him half awake. " Cletus? What are you doing up so late? " 

He looks at you from the fridge looking surprised with a chocolate bar in his mouth. " Oh, sorry Red was hunger so I grabbed some chocolate. I hope you don't mind (Y/N). " 

You yawn and rub your eyes. " Seeing as it keeps her from wanting human brains I'm not going to say no. " Feeling strange to say such a thing out lowed. 

He grins and laughed at you're words. " Well if you put it that way then I guess chocolate should just be added to the grocery list. " He closes the fridge as you see Red eating a pace of chocolate in her mouth. Her Rorschach like eyes look at you as she finishes her sharp black teeth showing her grin. 

"Why is Red looking at me like that?" You say in a nervous tone. 

He raises an eyebrow to the question. " She is not going to hurt you (Y/N) she's just happy to see you. " Red lays her head on his shoulder and starts to purr as he pets her. " You don't have to be afraid sweetie. If we wanted you dead you would of been by now. " 

It just makes you feel more uncomfortable. 

He looks at you with a sad face. " Oh, sorry did I say the wrong thing again? I'm bad at this small talk. " 

You walk over to him and look up at him still looking sad. You Smile at him and hold his hand. " It's fine, just saying stuff like that to me is not the best thing. But I'm happy to know you would not hurt me. " 

He holds you're hand back and smiles warmly. " All try to keep that in mind cutie. " He bends down and picks you up in his arms. 

" Oh my. " You giggle as he picks you up and walks to you the bedroom and lays you down on the bed. 

He lays down beside you facing you with a smile. " You should get some rest, don't you work tomorrow? "   

You smile and close your eyes. " Yeah, sadly I do....." 

He kisses you on the cheek and pulls you to him. " Goodnight (Y/N). " 

You lay your head on his chest and hug him back feeling safe in his arms. " Goodnight Cletus. " You both soon fall back to sleep holding each other throughout the night.   

The next day you get up trying not to wake him as you get ready for work. You succeed as you make it out the door and head for work. It starts to rain as you walk to work seeing how close it is. Walking past people trying to get out of the rain as soon as possible. Feeling like you are being watch from somewhere as you do. You soon make it to the hospital taking your wet jacket off as you. Soon you start working for the day making sure they are taken care off. You read info on a  man who came in the week before. " How are you feeling today sir? " You ask with a soft smile.

He looks at you with worry. " I don't want him to find me. " 

You are confused by this. " You don't want who to find you? " 

He looks around the room like he was looking for someone else in the room. " That monster. "

" Monster? " 

" The monster covered in red and black with white cold eyes. It almost killed me with it's claws and sharp teeth. " Still looking around the room his heart rate goes up. 

You feel like your heart is being crushed as you hear this. " I.... am sure you have nothing to worry about sir. You have me here to protect you. " You smile to help calm him down as you where always good at calming people down. 

He seems to calm down and get a small laugh out of it. " Well I'm glad I have a nice lady like you to protect me then. " He said in a joking tone. 

" Please get some rest sir. " You smile and leave the room closing the door behind you. Taking a deep breath taking in what the man said to you. Thinking how can we have a care free normal life together. You carry on with you're work day still having the thought in the back of you're mind. Soon the work day is done and you head back home as the sun starts to go down. You see a man with his hood up standing by the door to the apartment.

" Hey cutie, how was work today? " 

You soon realize it's  Cletus and try to smile but can't.  "Work was... alright today. " You open the door and walk into the apartment Cletus right behind you like a shadow. 

" You seem upset (Y/N), did something happen at work? " He said as he turns you towards him and takes his hood off. 

" It's nothing, just something someone said all be alright. " 

" If someone is messing with you I can make them stop. " Sounding defensive. 

You shake you're head. " No, like I said all be fine Cletus. " 

" Please tell me what's wrong. " He lifts your chin up making you look into his green eyes.

" Just.... I ran into a guy in the hospital. He sounded like he was someone you tried to kill as Carnage. Why I didn't want to bring it up to you. " You look to the side feeling bad for saying it.

He lets go of your chin and looks to the side. " Oh I see, I'm sorry but I can't change what I have done in the past. If you hate me I will understand. "

You look to him and hold his hand. " I don't hate you sweetie, just never been with someone like this before. You are trying to change for the better for me. "

He smiles at you and puts his hand on your cheek and kisses you on the lips softly. Then pulls away running his fingers through your hair. " Yeah, I am trying to change for you. I didn't have a grate life growing up. I never had anyone who really cared about me. Then you come along and treat me like everyone else. And show me kindness and take care of me without a second thought. It makes me want to protect you and keep you close to me. "

You feel your cheeks get warm and your heart beat faster. " I'm glad I make you feel that way sweetie. " You hug him and he hugs you back making you feel calm once again.

" So please, remember I don't want to be like that anymore. You are my girlfriend so I will not hurt you. And one more thing.... I think you where followed home. "

" What? "

He holds your head down so you don't look around. " Don't let them know I'm onto them. "
