Elio knew they weren't going to have sex. Despite how much he wanted to...
And Stella on the other hand... sex hadn't even crossed her mind. In fact, nothing had really crossed her mind since they left the party. Her mind was empty, but also racing at the same time.
Whatever feeling she was having... it was so new. All of this was such an unfamiliar territory she had never explored. And now she is. With Elio of all people.
This was... familiar to Elio. The sneaking around, the unsaid words, the big feelings you couldn't quite name. It was uncanny how much this resembled Oliver.
He hated that. He hated comparing the two. They were nothing alike... but somehow so similar in all of the brilliant ways.
He didn't want it to end.
When they arrived to Stella's room, she immediately shuts the door, being careful to make sure that it doesn't slam. She puts the rock that holds the door open in front of it so no one could come in without really trying.
Stella turned around slowly, biting her lip nervously as she slowly approached Elio. She had absolutely no idea what was going to happen that night. Or what this meant for them.
Elio knows. Partly..
But he knows what moments like this mean.
He's all too familiar.
Elio meets Stella halfway, wrapping his arms around her neck. He practically melted when she hugged him back.
This was normal at least. A hug. That's all it was. A hug.
Friends hug.
But the longer the hug lasted, the more Elio seemed to melt into Stella. The more he leaned on her, like maybe if he stayed there long enough they could become one.
Stella smiled, tightening her grip around his back, her hands just naturally finding their way under his shirt and to his warm skin. Her hands rubbed up and down his spine, feeling the curve of it and the dips.
Her smile dropped. This was no longer just a normal friend hug.
