Snow was falling,
So much like stars
Filing the dark trees
That someone could easily imagine
The reason for being was nothing more
Than prettiness.Mary Oliver.

The sound of the flushing toilet brought some sort of peace to Desire's soul. Her shoebox was now empty all the drugs were now down the drain with all her wounds. She felt relieved. She was ready to stay for Madeline, for Elena, for Dr.Posey and for Kye. Walking down the garden that led to 'Nuns of saint's Mary', she remembered when she was one of the popular kids in her highschool, when she was happy with her mother and her father and Rachael. How they would all open gifts under the their Christmas tree while drinking hot chocolate.
To be honest, she was a mommy's girl. One of her most embarrassing moments was when she had to ask her mother for a condom for her first date with a guy named Liam Gareth, her highschool boyfriend. She laughed at the thought, her mother later went with her for the date sitting inbetween Liam and herself.
Desire laughed and snuggled into her coat, the air was freezing and her teeth were close to falling out before she stepped into the building. She walked over to the receptionist.
"Hello. I'm Desire Haynes"
The older lady rose her head up.
"What can I do for you?""I uhmm" Her eyes betrayed her as a single tear fell but she hurriedly cleaned it off and placed a smile on her face.
"My mother Orianna Haynes passed....away few months ago"The old lady made an 'O' sound.
"Sign here"
She handed Desire a blue file."So what do I do next?" Desire asked, dropping the pen.
"Well when people pass away with no family available, we bury them ourselves conducting a small general interment"
"Ohh so where can i locate her grave?"
"It is on row 206B. We also want to thank you for your gracious donations to us, your mother was a lovely woman May her soul rest in peace" She made the holy cross sign from her head to her shoulders using her rosary.
Donations?
"What donations?" She furrowed her brows."Your family has donated up to ten million over the last four years" The woman smiled brightly.
Desire was so confused ten million was a lot of money, she definitely didn't have that. Her family?. The only family she had left had been missing for five years so who could it be?
"The account that sends the money ermm does any name appear on it?" Desire asked.
The woman checked some documents.
"Yes it says here Miss Olivia Haynes"No one she knew was named Olivia. So many questions Desire needed to ask but the thought of having someone sharing her blood was out there was exciting. She wanted to meet whoever it was.
The woman gave a contact info and she left to find her mother's grave. When she found it the tears couldn't be held back anymore, she broke down. The sky felt her grief and joined her as it poured down the sky. Her tears mixed with the chilling rain she yelled out her lungs.
Desire faced the tombstone and placed her fingers on the headstone.
She sobbed.
"You never asked for me all through your four years here. I waited for you to call and you never did. I've always mattered to you I know and I..miss you""I miss the taste of your special cherry pie...and your terrible singing voice, your early morning prayers that no one ever attends" She laughed.
A breath away from freezing she heard people calling for her to come into the shelter.
After one last look she did.♟
Kye tapped his legs while his head bobbed to his favourite Christmas song. It was his favourite season or holiday or whatever. The smile on his face plus the red button up shirt with white and green stripes including the red and white santa cap made it quite obvious.
He couldn't remember the last time he didn't fly with his private jet, he thought it would be better if Desire would see other people apart from him maybe it would make her more comfortable. All he wanted was for her to be happy.
Last Christmas by Wham played loudly on his earphones as he looked up to see Desire walking away from the boarding desk and towards him wearing a frown on her face as she tried to keep up with the heavy bag on her shoulders.
Kye walked up to her and took the bag from her.
"Morning"She nodded and took a good look at him.
"Is there a dress code I'm not aware of?""Well sort of. It's almost Christmas you aren't even the slightest bit happy"
"Who said I wasn't?"
"Maybe the bag under your eyes" Kye pointed at her eyes.
Desire took a seat beside him and they both sat.
"I haven't been sleeping well" She confessed."Nightmares?"
She nodded and shifted in her seat.
"Yeah. Same ones"Kye bit his lip.
"Wanna talk about it?"Desire looked him in the eye and sighed
"Maybe later"He patted her back.
"Just remember when your afraid I'm right beside you"She smiled.
"Why do you think i'm scared?"His heart raced at the sight of her smile.
"Your peeling your phone case"She looked down and cursed. He laughed.
The speakers announced their boarding call making Desire jump a little. Kye liked seeing nervous Desire it was more cute than drunk Desire.
He stood up but Desire didn't.
"Are you okay?" He asked
"Not really" She sniffed
"What's wrong? "
"I've never flown before" She admitted, biting her nails.
Kye laughed, nodded in acknowledgement and stretched his hands out to her.
"C'mon, let me be your first"Desire placed her hand on his.
"This better be worth it" She muttered."You do trust me right?"
Ofcourse she did. Maybe even more than she hoped not.
"Mhhm" She replied to scared to say 'yes'.♟
