Everyone Desire had walked past on the way to the office where she currently sat in obviously came for the same job interview as Desire but she looked like the most unlikely to get it. She quietly sat down and said few words of encouragement to herself. The air conditioner didn't cool her nerves, her palms were squeezed tightly in front of her. She was sure her forehead was wet with sweat still the woman in front of her asked her question after question.
Beatrice briefly raised her eyes to meet the candidate in front of her. She didn't look like the others who had masters degree or went to ivy league schools but she was at least confident and a breath of fresh air from those other rich folks. She had on a pant suit with a dark grey turtle neck completely different from the other women who had worn less than clothes. She made up her mind that Mr Reed would need a welcome relief.
She placed her glasses on the wooden table, leaned in and crossed her fingers on the table.
"This is a one year commitment contract. No excuses no quits"
One of the many things Desire just failed at was commitments, the urge to turn and leave was there but she was very determined to take this job if she was going to continue living.
"Yes ma'am"
"The long hours, travel needs, abrupt change in plans. Your boss hasn't arrived yet so you would immediately begin to prepare for his arrival and expect whatever he pours out on you whenever he arrives"
Desire straightened herself, wiped her sweaty hands on her black pantsuit and folded them neatly in front of her.
"Yes. Yes I understand. I'm willing to do anything"
She replied trying not to sound as desperate as she seemed to be. Her black hair that was in tight bun began to loosen leaving soft curls lying on her forehead.
"Wonderful then. Your hired"
"I am?"
"Yes, congratulations Miss Haynes" They both stood up and shook their hands.
"I..you.. I'm soo so grateful. I won't let you down"
Desire was so happy nothing could nearly spoil her mood today. She got a house; well an apartment filled with crappy people, now a job. Life was sort of looking good deep down she couldn't wait to tell Dr. Posey, recently they've both grown closer than anyone she has been in her entire life. She couldn't hide her excitement.
"Who else will be on his team?"
Beatrice smiled.
"They will be the Assistant, operations manager and the resource manager"
"So who am I?" She asked curiously
"The assistant assistant manager"
"Oh" That was all she could muster.
Beatrice continued with a smile on her face.
"Well that doesn't mean your not important it just means that your use will only come to you when needed. That means when they arrive you'd be the let's just say required help"
"So all those people out there are her just to bring coffees and print stuff..."
"People would do anything to work at REED. Well for the money and I've ran a background check on few of the applicants luckily your one of them and I know your extremely, fully, very..."
Desire breathed out and looked at her watch. She was late for therapy and she had some amazing news she was desperate to share.
"Okay okay I get it. I'm broke. Very... very"
Beatrice smiled, her blue eyes even sparkled it had been a long time someone took no effort to make her smile. The woman took Desire's palms in hers and whispered.
"This isn't going to be easy but I see you and I see a woman who is strong and willing and I hope to see you more often. We would be expecting you on Monday next week. Never be late"
Desire hurriedly got up from the chair returning the woman's smile.
"You won't regret this" She assured her.
"I'd better not"

Elizabeth had been on the same phone call for fifteen minutes now and Desire felt like she was losing her mind she needed to tell her. Usually she would leave to do something to calm her nerves but no she was restraining her self from such activities that would lead her down the wrong path. No. Not when she had gotten this far. Her eyes shifted to the glass of water on the table, inner horrific thought began to enter her mind. Holding your breath for a long time can sore your mind and no one likes a girl with a sore mind.
The water began to speak to her it told her to go home run a bath and have fun. But no one has fun in a bathtub except it sex, the activity that gives so much pleasure, addiction seemed so good years ago. Well it's one of the activities she restrained from, she didn't need any one or anything that would make her lose focus or change her pattern of living. Its was good just the way it was.
"Desire"
She sharply shifted her eyes from the glass to the eyes of her therapist.
"Yes"
"You had something to say to me?" She asked
"Uhmm yes. I got a job...at REED" She happily stated.
"That's wonderful desire. I'm so happy for you, That's amazing. How do feel about this?"
"Well I'm happy" Those three words were magical to the ears of Elizabeth but they weren't enough she needed a solid rock to. A friend. Being friends with your therapist is wonderful. Your therapist being your only friend now that's the sad part.
"Its wonderful. How are your roommates?"
"Alive"
"I guess they are. You don't seem to like your second roommate"
Desire didn't like anyone of them but
"We just don't click"
"Is that so?" Elizabeth smiled
Desire then smiled before her phone vibrated, she turned it over to see who could possibly be calling her. When she did, she silenced her phone and focused back on the words coming out of her doctors mouth. Today was good and nothing was going to ruin it for her.
Nothing.
