Madeline was pregnant.

She was months into bringing an offspring into this world, this cruel world. Her room smelt like anxiety, depression and regret, she hadn't left it in two weeks crying and eating all day. Desire felt sad. It felt like the colour had sunk from their lives mostly hers, she was currently folding clothes into Madeline's wardrobe.

Desire glanced at Madeline's sad form and took a seat beside her on the bed.

"Are you ready for this?"

Madeline replied honestly, shaking her head.
"No I'm not Desire" She sobbed.

Desire sighed. The pain that comes with being an unwanted child was a very familiar feeling. A wound she never paid attention to, a lesion that was buried six feet under and she wouldn't want anyone to experience that.

"I know what everyone tells you. You clearly aren't ready for all your dreams just get crushed under one big unplanned situation"

"But scott wants it. He says he's ready, I'm not he says I will be. I love Scott, I can't hurt him. My parents would freak out if they found out" The tension and fear in her voice was wrecking.

Desire placed her fingers on Madeline's belly.
"You could be. You couldn't be. Just don't make a decision for today make it for the future, this child will need love and time and hope and you and scott. If you can't or rather won't then do what's necessary but if you can then I'd love to meet little maddy"

Madeline's heart melted. Desire had never called her maddy and she just did, they embraced for the first time.

Madeline pulled from the hug and looked Desire in the eyes.
"What ever decision I make will you promise to be by my side?"

That question needed no thoughts.
"Yes maddy. I'm not going anywhere"

Suddenly Kiara barged in starling them both.
"Oops was I interrupting a mother, godmother moment"

"Yes you were" Desire laughed and continued folding.

Kiara loved the sound of her laugh she wanted to record it and listen to it over and over again. She stared at Desire bite her lips as she intensely ironed the silk blouse.

"So kiki, how's exams?" Madeline asked interrupting her stare.

"Can we not talk about that please? Desire how's work?" Kiara begged

"I also do not want to talk about things that stress us"

Was desire stressed? Kiara frowned.
"Does kye stress you out?"

At the mention of Kye a hint of red tinted Desire's cheeks.
"No. He is very...."
She thought
"...attentive"

"Okay. Anyways I have a paper tomorrow so catch you guys later" With that Kiara was out the room.
