A bird screams, and Drista jerks awake.
She is sleeping in her and Dream's tent. Drista looks to the side, expecting to see Dream laying on the ground, sleeping. But he isn't there.
Drista stands up quickly and unzips the tent. She steps outside in a panic, and looks around. To her great relief, Dream is sleeping on the ground beside the campfire. He is covered in soot and woodchips.
Drista walks towards her brother and shakes him awake. Dream opens his eyes and looks around. He rubs his cheek and stands up. There are bags under his eyes, and scratches all over his face.
"How late did you stay up?" Drista growls. "You know you shouldn't stay up past eleven, or fall asleep outside! You were in pitch black, you could have gotten eaten or shot by a monster!"
"I'm sorry..." Dream says. He is half awake and is struggling to keep his eyes open. "I accidentally stayed awake until 3 am"
"YOU MEAN YOU FELL ASLEEP AT THE MOST DANGEROUS TIME OF NIGHT? OUTSIDE?" Drista's face is red with anger. How could Dream be so careless? He could have gotten hurt.
"I said I'm sorry!" Dream mumbles. He rubs his eyes. "I'm going to go to the creek and clean up... I'll... hunt... later..."
Dream slumps over and Drista catches him before he falls. Drista takes a deep breath, and takes her brother to the tent. Guess she'll have to hunt and pack up today.
Packing up the camp isn't very complicated. They don't carry around very many things besides food, weapons, and needed materials, so camp doesn't tend to be messy. All she had to do was put out the campfire embers, pack bags, and then pack the tent. But Drista was going to hunt first, because Dream was sleeping in the tent at the moment.
------------------------After Hunting------------------------
Drista walks back with a pack full of raw meat. She ran across plenty of wild pigs, cows, and sheep, even a couple chickens. She got enough food so that they could last for about a week. Perfect.
Dream is awake and walking around when Drista arrives back at the camp. He is clean, but dripping wet, which means he visited the creek after he woke up. Dream is clumsily packing the tent, and he already put out the embers of the campfire with some sand. He waves when he sees Drista.
"Sorry about this morning... I thought I could stay up later and that was a bad idea."
"It's alright. At least you took some responsibility and got the camp cleaned up." Drista says. "Lets start heading out around 1."
"We could always go now," Dream says. "I got everything packed."
"Yeah, why not?" Drista says. She grabs her bag, and Dream does the same. They both walk away from the campsite, and into the wilderness.
"So, where are we going today, Sir Dream?" Drista says. Dream laughes. "I'm not sure, Queen Drista, but it will be somewhere amazing, I hope."
Drista laughes along with Dream, and they exit the forest. They are now in a vast meadow, with beautiful sunflowers that sport blinding yellow petals. They face the sun, which is almost in the middle of the sky. It's beautiful, and Drista takes in the moment before walking again. She jogs a little so that she can catch up with Dream.
But despite the beauty of the moment, the words that Dream said the night before about settling in a house in a new city come back to haunt Drista. She shudders, and all the light and bright colors in the meadow seem to go away. She doesn't want to even see a village again, let alone a city. If Dream decides to keep her with those awful, boring people that live there, then she might just run away. Whats the point? Besides, she can live all by herself. She's old enough. She doesn't need Dream anymore.
Dream notices the change in Drista's mood, but doesn't say anything. He turns away. He knows why she isn't happy all the sudden.
Both Dream and Drista trudge through the meadow, which now has grown dark because of the clouds that are covering the sun. It starts to rain, right on cue. It's not happy anymore. In fact, it's the opposite of happy. Its depressing. Very, very depressing.
