It's mid afternoon.
Drista is sitting on the chair, trying as hard as she can to read a book. But the sun glares down on her, and she closes the novel in frustration. Instead, Drista decides to go to the plaza to see Ghostbur, who is sitting beside someone she hasn't seen before.
"Hey, Ghostbur!" Drista yells out to him.
"Well hello, Drista! Good afternoon!" he yells back. Ghostbur waves her over, and Drista comes down to the main platform.
"There is someone I would like you to meet," Ghostbur says. "His name is Tubbo."
Ghostbur motions to the boy sitting next to him, who only looks about 3 years older than Drista. He is wearing a buisness suit, and is holding a stack of papers. His eyes have bags under them, and his hands are shaking from stress.
Even though Drista is confused on why a teenager is doing work for the city, she decides to be humble anyways. "Hi Tubbo, I'm Drista."
"Hello Drista!" Tubbo says. He has the same thick British accent as Ghostbur, and he seems to smile every time a word comes out of his mouth. Drista knows he is forcing it, and that he is probably stressed and tired. She doesn't say anything about it though.
"So, do you work here or something?" Drista asks. Tubbo nods. "Yeah, I'm the president of L'manburg."
Drista is shocked by this news. Tubbo only looks about 16-17, and he is already the President? No wonder why he is stressed.
"How long ago did you obtain your position as President?" Drista says.
When Tubbo hears this, his eyes go distant. They glass over as he zones out, and it almost looks like tears are forming. He grabs his chest for a split second before fixing his expression and answering. "Oh, about a little over a month ago. In November."
Drista tries not to ask any more questions, because Tubbo starts to stare into the distance again. But in an attempt to avoid an awkward silence, she does anyway.
"Say, do you know any people around here that are my age? That I could you know... become friends with?"
"Around your age?" Tubbo answers. "Well, there is not many people..."
Tubbo starts to name a few people, who he says are around the age of 16 and up. Not ideal, Drista thinks, but good enough.
"Oh, and wait... there's Tommy..."
Drista jumps when she hears the word "Tommy." It's the same exact name she saw on the sign in front of the abandoned house a few weeks ago. But when Tubbo says "Tommy," he also jumps too.
"Wait! No... not Tommy..." Tubbo starts to fidget, and looks even more stressed.
"Who's Tommy?" Drista asks, in an attempt to get some information about him. Maybe she can get to learn some of the history about this place, because no one seems to want to tell her. Drista knows she is asking too many questions, but she continues.
Tubbo's face sinks, and he looks down to the ground. Ghostbur puts his arm around him, and Tubbo slumps over even more. The papers drop out of his hand, and float to the ground.
"I shouldn't have said that." Tubbo says. "Forget it. We don't talk about Tommy."
Drista stands up. "Where can I find him?"
"I can't tell you." Tubbo says. "No one can visit him. It's forbidden. He broke the law, and he has to pay the price."
"I'm so confused, can you please just fill me in on this? I would like to know where Tommy is." Drista's voice becomes stern, and Tubbo looks up. He looks intimidated, but also fearful. He takes a deep breath, and speaks his words.
"Through the north nether portal." Tubbo says. "Follow the path, and you will find him."
Authors note: Short chapter, but this chapter is essential. Drista needs to meet up with Tommy before the storyline gets serious and more exciting, and the two work together a lot in this fanfiction. So excited to write the next few chapters!
