"Surprise!" Yeonjun softly said when Yeji woke up on her bed at home. The groups were dismissed from their dorms for the holiday. He was standing on the open doorway of her bedroom with something behind his back. The bedroom was aesthetic with a white and pink theme, and the glorious morning sunlight that came from the enormous windows above her bed bathed the interior generously.

Yeji rubbed her eyes and slouched on her bed with a cute cat smile on. "Good morning," she purred. While Yeonjun looked fully dressed in a grey fur coat and pastel pink turtleneck with a black denim pair of jeans and a matching scarf and woolen socks, Yeji was unprepared in her bedhead, alpaca sleeping sweater and grey-striped pajama pants plus the knee-high knitted Christmas socks.

Yeonjun took a deep breath and walked inside.

 ...

"BABY BELLAA!" Lia squealed from upstairs, "MERRY CHRISTMAS BABYY!"

She skipped down the carpeted wooden stairs of her decorated mansion to run into her beloved white dog. Then she saw the twinkling Christmas tree on the other end of the hallway which led to her living room. As usual, the bottom was heaped with presents for her and her furry friend. But again, she was alone for Christmas. Lia smiled sadly and strolled to the Christmas tree. She picked up an unignorable card that was in the color of bright electric cucumber.

"Look at the couch," she read out loud.

"BOOooo?" Soobin half-shrieked as he jumped from behind the sofa. It turned into an uncertain question halfway though. Didn't the surprise work? Why is she...?

"How long have you been crouching down there, waiting for me to get up? Doesn't it hurt for a tall guy like you?"

Soobin blinked in disbelief. Of course it hurt but he put up with it. And he just wanted to walk out of the posh manor if that was the kind of 'thank you' he was gonna receive from Lia.

"Lia, all you had to do was be happy that you got company this year. You are smart and pretty but you are a killjoy too," Soobin grunted, hopping out of the tight space.

"Thank you, Soobinnie. Merry Christmas."

...

"Toto, say 'Merry Christmas Ryujin' for me please," Beomgyu instructed his pet parrot who sat on his shoulder.

"Mary Chris Miss Lou Jean," Toto echoed like Siri then he flew back to his windowsill which displayed the sight of snowfall and thick fog outside.

"Is that bird poo?" Ryujin snickered, pointing at his shoulder.

"And is that your girlfriend?" Beomgyu's mom marvelled from the stairs upon seeing a beautiful young girl inside her house.

...

"Taehyun, what are you doing, taking me somewhere unknown so early in the morning under the snow? We've been walking for so long, I think I'm gonna get a frostbite." Chaeryeong sneezed into her glove. Her nose was red and her toes were blue from cold.

"Isn't it supposed to be romantic? There's no one around, the snow is falling nicely too, graceful and slow, not too windy and just the right amount of fogginess to-"

"Well, it would be romantic if we actually had something nice to look at, like scenery," Chaeryeong replied.

Both of them stopped.

"The right amount of fogginess to show you this," Taehyun continued. The overly dense fog dissipated gradually but quickly, showing the sight of a snow-capped forest of fir trees lining a mountain. There was a staircase that led down, straight to the winter wonderland. "Bingo." That's what he said, but he was silently thanking God with all of his willpower that it managed to look magical.

"We're going down there?" Chaeryeong chattered in dismay. This was Taehyun's reply:

"There's something even better down there, just you walk a bit more and see. I'll hold your hand and give you my coat too, hmm?"

...

"Kai?"

"Morning, Yuna! Whatcha doing here so early?" They ran into each other at the convenience store.

"I forgot to get my parents a gift so I decided to grab a quick one here before they wake up."

"Oh goodness, do you need a hand with the wrapping and stuff?" Kai offered, putting a bottle of coke in his shopping basket.

"I don-," Yuna took a second thought, "oh, actually I do!"

The two ran over to the cashier and crossed the streets to sneak inside Yuna's house. Then they crossed their legs near the white Christmas tree to get some Christmas presents wrapped together. Time seemed to run as slowly as she wanted when Yuna gazed at the kind boy in front of her, tying up the red ribbon and taping the card on its side. He was truly an angel on the inside and out.

"Oh Yuna, I actually brought this," Kai said, handing her a small vintage wooden box, "It hasn't been wrapped yet, but It's for you."

Yuna lifted the lid curiously after receiving it. She turned the windup key of the music box in anticipation.  Then the loveliest tune she's ever heard began playing as the tin figurines of a waltzing boy and girl spun around to the blissful rhythm of The Christmas Song. "It's wonderful. Thank you so much Kai, for the help and the little trinket."

"It's nothing. Merry Christmas, Yuna! I have to go now, my sister's waiting."

I'm still just a friend. I shouldn't get my hopes up. "You should go. Merry Christmas, Kai!'
