It's been a few days since the announcement of the island resort trip and things have been kinda spiraling here on campus. Word got out that the debate team was going away for a while and people seemed happy for us. I've had people come up to me and congratulate me for the win and have praised some of the other members as well.
I've never got much appreciation for doing something good, besides from my parents, it's been honestly... nice.
Still, with all this attention, I still had to think about whether I should actually go on the trip with the rest of the team. Well, it should be no surprise that people have been influencing my decision. Especially, Elena.
She has been spamming my DM's with links to the Royal Diamond website for the last two days. Every time I open a new link, it takes me to a list of activities to do on the island like jet-skiing, swimming with dolphins, and an all you can eat buffet.
Okay, I won't lie... the food looks fire.
I saw this picture that had a huge table that was full of food from every culture around the world! I'm talking about roast beef, tacos, Empanadas, sushi... god I'm a fatass! Goddamnit, Elena, why do you have to torture me like this?
Even though I was tempted through my stomach, I still had to sit down and think about what I wanted. The vacation does look promising with all these things to do, but I had my priorities and that was school, hands down. However, I have to rest the brain once in a while and taking a break does seem nice. Alright, screw it.
One trip to an exotic island won't hurt!
After I made my choice, I found myself inside my dorm, packing all my essentials for a three-week getaway to paradise. I've never been on a trip like this, so I wasn't sure what I should take with me. In the past, I've taken trips with my family back to Veracruz, but that was when my mom packed my suitcase for me and my sister. Now, I have no idea what to take, so I'm taking everything.
"Alright, this seems good, right?" I pointed at my filled suitcase and my roommate came over to check it out. He let out a disappointing breath.
"Bro, are you going on vacation or moving out?"
I looked at him with a confused look.
"What are talking about?"
"Joey, you don't need all this shit for a three-week vacation. You're taking ten boxes of toothpaste and five textbooks. Are you conceited or just straight up dumb?" My roommate said skeptically. Why is he such an asshole?
I crossed arms and stared at him.
"Okay smartass, what should I take on this trip? Since you're an expert at packing suitcases."
He let out a breath.
"Well, you shouldn't be packing like your moving out. You're going to an island to have fun, so the books gotta go."
"Oh hell nah, I need those."
"Why?!"
"Because I wanna be productive on the ship, man. It's gonna be a long trip and I want to get something done before we get to the island." I said sternly.
" 'Books gotta go', fuck that. I need my books to do my homework." My roommate rubbed his temples and grabbed all my books.
"Fine, well compromise. Which book do you need for the most important assignment?"
"I n-"
"IF YOU SAY ALL OF THEM, I'm gonna slap the shit outta you."
I wish he would do that, please try it, because I wanna hit you so bad right now. Still, he's holding my books hostage, so I'll play his games.
