I promised you a poem
I promised you my heart
I promised you my soul
And I begged, "Do not depart. . ,"
I don't regret taking all your love
I don't regret basking in your glory
I don't regret your soft, pink lips
For I told you, "You're worth more than me."
I treasured every word that slipped out of your mouth
I treasured every breathless grin
I treasured every inch of your skin
You heard as I sang into the cold night, "You're all I need."
How many times
Do I have to tell you?
It won't make a difference what we want. . .
For "I will always love you."
Alone,
Margo.
