CHAPTER EIGHT
really joey? really?

---

WHILST SITTING IN THE COURTYARD and waiting for Billy, Felicity did some pondering, mainly about Joey. After connecting the dots, she realized that he was, in fact, the one to be screaming out her name, the real one who didn't want her to get shot in head because of Billy's time management skills... but why? Was it all an act to try and get on her good side since he blatantly ruined it by shouting at her in self pity? She didn't know, but now that she was alive, she wanted to know.

Soon, Billy arrived onto the courtyard with his face showing distraught pain. He stood beside Joey and sighed deeply, the boy beside him taking great interest. "Billy, what did he do?" he questioned as he looked at him with soft eyes. Billy sighed once more and lifted the back of his shirt to reveal dried blood and scars in lines across his backside. Felicity gasped at the horrific gasp before grabbing a towel that was in Billy's hands and handing it to Joey. He minutely put pressure onto the wounds like the caring friend he was before Snuffy had mentioned that the headmaster was coming their way. Quickly but cautiously, Billy put his shirt down and looked at the man approaching them.

"How are you feeling?" he asked, Billy responding with an 'okay.' The headmaster looked at Joey, "Come to my office, will you, Mr. Trotta?" He glanced over at Felicity, Joey looking quite alarmed. "You too, Ms. Parker. They want to see you both." The two glanced over at one another, wondering telepathically if they did something wrong. Did they know that they were part of the reasons why Billy was so late?

"Why?" Joey asked with a look of nervousness trailing up his face.

"I don't think they mean you both any harm," the headmaster reassured, "I'll go with you." Joey and Billy looked at each other once more before he and Felicity went to the office. Saying that they were nervous was an understatement; they were petrified.

The walk to the office was long and silent, and Felicity hated tension-filled silence. "Joey?" she whispered, gaining his attention. He huffed in response. "Joey could we talk?"

"About?"

Really, Joey? Really? he thought in anger. She wanted to talk; this would be the perfect time to apologize, not act aloof.

"About.. about what happened..." Felicity stuttered unintentionally, but with his detached tone of voice, she couldn't help it. "In the dorms and... and I know you called out my name, you know, when I almost got shot?"

"Did I?"

Yes you did, Joey!

"Did you not?"

"...I did."

The then angered tension was filled with a new one; awkwardness.

Joey finally sighed, internally figuring that he had to be a man and be the one to apologize. "Look Felicity, I'm sorry about what happened. I shouldn't have-"

The door opened before them, preventing Joey from finishing his sentence. They slowly walked in with palms sweaty and Luis looked them up and down before he spoke in a voice full of nonchalance. "We're letting you go."

Felicity and Joey looked over at one another. "What?" the boy questioned. They certainly did not want to leave the establishment, regardless of if there were terrorists or not. This place was their home, and losing it would be devastating.

"You're free to go," he repeated looking Joey in the eye, "These men will take you both to the main entrance." They looked over at the men standing over in the corner like monsters under a two year old's bed. "All you have to do is walk down the driveway."

Joey's face still held a highly confused face that practically anyone could read with ease. "Why us?"

Luis looked around before landing his eyes back on Joey. "Because we respect your father." He glanced over at Felicity, "And he seemed to have requested to let you out as well. With all due respect, we agreed." The look on the girl's face was full of terror. She couldn't help but wonder why she out of all people was solicited by a man who had no idea who she even was, and vice versa. Sure, she'd heard things about him from Joey, but that didn't mean that they knew each other respectively.

"Fuck my father," Joey muttered, catching Felicity by surprise, "and fuck you!" She gripped his arm to tell him to be quiet, but he wouldn't stop pushing his point forward. Luis let a snicker pass his lips at the statement of the boy. "I'm not going anywhere without my friends!"

"Oh, yes you are," Luis degraded. Joey attempted to lunge at him in anger, but the guards held him back with the headmaster pleading that he doesn't fight the man who could shoot him practically whenever. He groaned in pain as a guard took him outside.

"Let go of him!" Felicity shouted as she pulled the arm of the man taking them both out, but he shoved her back onto the ground. She hated the fact that he was holding onto Joey like that and she oh so desperately wanted to help him. In turn, she internally decided that even though he wouldn't apologize for his actions, she needed to be the bigger person and save him.

"OK OK ALRIGHT!" Joey breathed, looking back at Felicity with a look of guilt spreading across his face, "I'm going." The man tugged at him, him unsure of Joey suddenly being obedient. "I'M GOING!" They walked a few more inches before it was his turn to take action. Joey hit the man, knocking him to the ground and stealing his gun, shooting him, and moving forward.

Felicity caught up with him. "Joey, don't do this!" she pleaded out of breath, her eyes welling into tears. She knew that he was going to go with the plan that he thought of earlier that week, and it hurt her to know that he could plausibly get himself killed from completing this action.

"I have to."

Joey ran out into the courtyard and began to shoot at one of the guards. The group spun around and stared at him, and of course, Billy tried to save him. He attempted to run over to the boy who was about to get shot, but Hank held him back. He couldn't fight past the grip the bigger boy had on him.

Suddenly, Felicity had burst out of the doors. "Joey get out of the way!" She pushed Joey out of her sight and he tumbled over the railing, hitting his head against the building and passing out. Bullets blew through Felicity's upper body and she fell to the ground; the pain that she was enduring at this moment was unreal. Blood was dripping down her arms and left a pool down beside her.

"I don't wanna die," she cried, blood spilling out of her mouth.

The last thing she heard was Billy shouting at the men who surrounded Felicity who was lying breathless on the concrete. Beside her was Joey, who seemly so had taken a bullet or two to his left arm. Well, even though Joey couldn't apologize, at least the couple was together.
