CHAPTER FIVE

MEANWHILE, ELSEWHERE
MARGARET HERBERT WAS SITTING ATOP her bed gazing over at the vacant area where her best friend used to sleep, just wishing that she could have been the one to leave the orphanage. Of course, she loved this place; it was one that she'd lived in for as long as she could remember... but she always envisioned her future with Felicity Parker in it. She knew that she shouldn't have ran away from the girl on the happiest day of the entirety of her life, but how was Margaret supposed to tell her that she was envious of not getting adopted, especially after she's been waiting for years on end?
Several months had passed and very little had happened, other than the fact that Margaret wasn't taking into custody of an adult again. She was starting to get tired of the fact that absolutely nobody wanted her. So, she took matters into her own hands and packed a fairly small bag with important personal belongings; one item including black and white prayer beads given to her by her late mother. By what she could recall, her family was extremely religious in the Christian category and went to church almost every weekend. That ended when Margaret was young; her mother passed away from an extremely rare ovarian cancer, whilst her father, who couldn't handle being a single parent, hung himself a year later. She lived with her grandparents for a few months or so, but because of health issues, they too could not take care of the poor little girl. Now being a fifteen year old young adult, Margaret pushed her past beside her and it rarely ever came into her mind. She did have flashbacks here and there, but she didn't do anything to do address it, although as of late, it has been an reoccurring thing.
Margaret waited until dusk to make a break for wherever. She surely was going to miss the place that she lived in for the majority of her life, but she also wanted to explore the world, which - for obvious reasons - she cannot do... until now, that is.
Soon, the sun set beneath the horizons and everyone was soon going to be in bed. Margaret unobtrusively made her way to the foyer, which was a brainless idea on her part, but no one would there to question. The orphanage's supervisors trusted the kids enough to where they didn't need a security guard on duty.
Before the front doors were to lock, the girl had managed to wither past it. Being her scrawny self, it was fairly easy to complete this task. But now, she was on the run. She was free to go wherever she wanted...
...and she excited to finally see the open world, even if her mental health were to prevent her from having the time of her life.
