Her pulsing hand was soft and warm in mine as she turned in her sleep and mumbled something inaudible and inarticulate as she slept. Her torso had edged from the covers and a broad right side of her torso was shown from beneath the covers, a tight bandage wrapped firmly around her middle. The sun had wept it's light beneath the the curtains and a shadow of lightened gold had moved across the floor to where I led at her side as she slept soundly in the singular bed.
She gave a groan and her hand fell to her middle, her mahogany eyes flicking sleepily open as she rolled a little to tuck her hand beneath the unstratified bandage. Sitting up a little I let my hand pass over her cheek, kissing her head softly as her eyes met mine and our lips touched. She pulled away meekly, a fierce blush forming and nuzzled my nose with a somnolent grin before yawing and bowing her head a fraction.
"I've called the others." I whispered, my hand running over her darkened hair as I let my head fall gently into the crook of her neck. She sighed, content, and I felt her lips touch my hair as she glided her hand through it.
There was a sleepy thrum in her voice as she softly hummed a lilting tune and lifted my heavy head to kiss me once again, quite softly.
"Is Zaffre keen on us getting going?" She asked, her head tilting a little to the left as the corners of her cheekbones caught the shielded, morning light from the covered window.
I nodded and brushed a thumb lightly over her cheek, looking softly into her eyes.
"If you're feeling well enough."
She passed a warm smile and let my hand pass gently over her stomach as she nodded and kissed my nose.
"I couldn't miss out on something as big as one of your plans, could I? You forgot me on your last escapade and I don't intend to be neglected again."
I felt a peaching blush pass my cheeks, reminiscing vividly on the years previously after we had broken up and I had left with the Monster Hunters and a few others in a stolen jet. Her wounds were obviously still tender from that incident and I did not intend to agitate them further. I felt her soft fingers lift my chin a little as she peppered my neck with kisses and whispered softly.
"I was joking, baby. It's alright." Her legs swung provisionally over the side of the bed as she parted her lips from the skin of my neck, pulling a loose, grey t-shirt over her head and ruffling her dark, tousled hair with the fingers of her left hand. Her head turned a little to the vague whir of an engine outside of the window. I caught her eye and stood, pulling a pair of tracksuit bottoms on and following her out the door and down the stairs into the living space- a dreary and neglected area to where the walls were peeled of their mildew-tinted cream paint and the sofas broken in areas with collective marks and broken fabrics in areas.
The blonde adept sat on the ceiling, reading a paper and humming to herself quietly. Her hair hung loosely from her pale blue attire and dripping in strands towards the wooden floor by the force of sheer gravity.
Her head turned a little as we entered and she elusively dropped unto the couch below, a slight fling of dust entering the air as the sofa breathed out with a squeaky groan.
She gave me a slight wink before retiring from her stance and pacing towards the door as a loud rap hit the wood.
I found Bliv's soft hand in mine and let my gaze wander as my partner, the strapping monster hunters and my little sister entered through the small door, the room soon humming with chatter and anticipation.
Raven's face lit up a little as she broke from the group and hugged me tightly, her arms slinging over my shoulders with such force I felt my feet stumble a fraction.
"Hello." I murmured demulcantly, my hand trailing into her dark locks as she grinned warmly and kissed my cheek. She gave a coruscant smile to Bliv over my shoulder and winked a little before pulling away and rejoining to Saracen to whom had now taken his decisive place at the decrippled sofa.
"So." Donegan declared, his weight resting on the arm of the couch as he gave a sigh towards his partner and ran a hand through his awned hair, "Vietnam." At this point the group had settled, and all eyes were on Bliv and I.
I gave a nod before biting on the edge of my lip and retrieving my iPhone from the lower half of my rear pocket. I lifted it to my vision and checked something quickly before slotting it back into my pocket.
"You have the equipment I request, presumably?" I commented, my gaze lifting.
Gracious gave a brief nod before giving a slight head tilt to the door.
"In the truck." he confirmed, his gaze spectating around the room.
Nodding I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket as I lifted it to the corner of my eye, a text appearing to the header of the screen.
"On their way."
I gave a nod before returning the phone to my pocket and slotting my hands into a tight grasp before me.
"We leave in four hours. Gracious, Donegan work on supplies. Rue check the flight arrangements are in order. Girls, I need you to make sure we have weapons and medical supplies. They're watching us and I assure you there will be casualties..." I let my mind wander a little and felt my eye catch Bliv's her expression hard-set as she gave a nod and a softened smile.
"You know the drill." I felt my voice hoarse at my throat as I turned from her glance and slipped my cell to my ear, waiting for the reply.
The next few would be a long couple of days.
