Ari's POV:

Running as fast as possible I stop to take a breath, blood splatters onto the ground from my injuries and coughing up large amounts. The flavour of my blood mingling with Nightmare's in my mouth drives me off the edge, causing me to destroy anything living that I can find. 'You must kill him' Soaring above the treeline, I search for something to kill. 'Tear him to pieces and devour him, you've waited this long to taste it! To experience the hunt!' I can practically hear my instincts telling me to tear through his small fragile body. "Ari!"

'What?!' I stop midflight, coming back to my senses as I hear the voice of my Xo, Kore. 'What, did I do...oh my gods, Nightmare!' I start flying at top speed back towards the house. But something tells me to go to Dancetale for some reason.

EARLIER

Ink's POV:

Going to a library, I search for a book on shifters, muttering the names of the books under my breath. "History of the Shifters, Shifter Art, Anatomy of a Shifter," There! Grabbing the book, I walk over to a table and start reading. I read over it until I reach a part that interests me. "When in extreme danger a Shifter can emit a distress call, which is not auditory but other Shifters in close proximity feel a pull towards the Shifter in danger, it is because of this that Shifters were so successful in the war, sending one to scout the area and alerting the others of traps." 'We do have a Shifter locked up awaiting execution,' I think, tapping the table pensively.

PRESENT

Ari's POV:

I clutch the pendant Nightmare gave that would allow me to teleport and appear in Dancetale. I change into my human form, lifting the hood of my cloak above my head, hiding my horns and my ears. The pull is much stronger now, and I let my gut guide me. Until I see it. A male Shifter chained to the ground and with weapons holding down further. "Ari, I don't trust this, something about this is wrong," Kore says in a worried tone. "Oh quiet you, we have to help him," I wave Kore away with my hand as I remove the weapons. After a long time of freezing the metal with my magic and hacking away at it with the edge of my shield, he's finally free.

I shake him, but to no avail. "Kore, can you help me, please? I need your assistance, just this once?" I look over Kore. "Ari...you know I don't like wasting my magic, and healing someone really drains me, and I can't help if he's dead, alright? So at least check if he's alive." He looks around again. "Ok..." I bend over, placing an ear on their chest, listening for a heartbeat... Nothing. "He's dead," I mutter. "I see," He floats over to me wraps a wing around my shoulder. "You okay?" He asks. "Meh, it's just, why do they have to kill us just for existing, it's not our fault," I grumble. "Yeah, it's pretty unfair,"

Something whizzes by my head and hits a tree, making me jump. "What the fuck was that!? Whatever it was I almost had a freaking heart attack!" I clutch my chest, my heart pumping extremely fast. 'A red bone?' I look behind me at the sound of charging gaster blasters.
