Chapter 5: Escape

Nightmare's POV:

"Nightmare, brother, are you ok?" I hear Dream say. 'Dream? What the fuck does he want,' "Are you here just to spite me?" I ask bitterly. "No, just checking on you, and bring you food,"

"Tch, I don't want your fake sympathy," I look away angrily. "but you can answer why I'm here,"

"Uhm, the Council has called for the imprisonment of you and your allies," I hear Blue say.

"Allies? what makes you think they're my allies?" I glare towards their direction, "And when we're here who's supposed to keep the balance? Answer that!"

"What do you mean? Not your allies? And what is this balance?" Dream asks.

"Well first of all their not my allies because they're my boyfriends, which I thought was obvious! And you should know what the balance is,"

Dream's POV:

"B-boyfriends!? B-b-but there's 6 of you!" I say very confused, 'his voice is higher then I remember, I wonder,'

"So? That doesn't stop us,"

"And we don't know what in the multiverse this balance is!"

"You don't?"

"No!" Blue and I say in unison.

Nightmare's POV:

'Uugh, great,'

"The balance is what's keeping the multiverse from collapsing, see it as a scale, if there is too much creation then the balance tips, destroying the multiverse. If there is too much destruction, the same happens. And each AU requires energy to keep itself together, and the multiverse only has so much energy and when an AU is created or destroyed there's a burst of energy, which the multiverse uses to sustain the AU's, so if there is no destruction or creation then the multiverse will collapse due to lack of energy. Everything must be in equilibrium for the multiverse to function."

"Woah," Dream says, I can imagine that his mouth hanging open in awe. "So if you keep us here forever the multiverse is screwed,"

"Y-your lying! There is no balance!" Blue says. "Blue, stop, he's telling the truth, I can sense his emotions, and he's not lying,"

"But, if we let them go we'll be fugitives," Blue says quietly. "I know Blue, I know, but the balance must be maintained, and were not suited for that,"

"One more thing, if you're setting me free, set the shifter free as well,"

"W-what! But they're enemies of the multiverse!" Dream says. "I know it's ridicules, but I might be able to bribe them into joining my side,"

"But how?" Blue asks. "I'm not gonna tell you,"

"We'll be back at midnight tonight," Dream tells me.

"Alright,"

'Well that was easy,' I think as they leave.

TEM SKIP

Dream's POV:

'Ok, we just gotta steal the keys and get out of here' Blue and I creep along the hall towards where Fell is standing. "Ok Blue, I'm going to put him asleep, I need you to distract him," I whisper into his 'ear.'

"Ok," he whispers back. "Hello, Fell! How are you doing this fine leaving!"

"What? Oh hey Blue, what are you doing down here?"

"I wanted to talk with you!"

'Ok, he's distracted now, gotta concentrate,'

"What? About what?"

"About how you are doing my friend! I don't want my friends to be sad!"

"I see, I'm fine, but I don't like that I have to guard this freak,"

When I hear Fell say that about Nightmare, I wince, knowing Nightmare is probably awake right now and probably heard that.

"I'm really tired right now," I suddenly hear something fall to the ground and soft snoring.

Walking over to him I start rummaging through his pockets, finding the key. I quickly unlock the trapdoor and grab the flashlight from my back pocket and go down the ladder. "Nightmare you awake?"

"Yeah," What I see surprises me, where I expect to see my brother's corrupted form, I see his passive form sitting on the floor cross-legged and an ecto stomach formed.

"N-nightmare?"

"Just hurry up already, I'll explain later," After letting Nightmare out we look for the Shifter's cell, which is in the basement of the base.

Nightmare's POV

"Give me the key, and stand back" Unlocking the cell door makes the Shifter start waking up. I can tell that it can't move and that it's afraid of me. Judging by the growling that it will attack me as soon as I set it free. "Look, I'm not going to hurt you, I have an offer for you," It stops growling and looks at me as if saying 'I'm listening, continue,' "my offer is if you join my group I will provide you with food, water, and a roof over your head, my group work to maintain the balance to keep it from tipping, so what do you say?" I ask unlocking the muzzle from their snout. "I guess, I'll agree to that, I will join you, but if you do anything stupid I'll rip your face off," (a nat 20 on a persuasion roll!)

"I'll keep that in mind," (Nightmares best stat is charisma XD) as I unlock the rest of the shackles, they grab me and lunge out of the cell. "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!! I THOUGHT YOU SAID YOU WOULDNT ATTACK MEEEEEEEE!!!!!!" I scream as they toss me in the air. "I'm not," they say, catching me with their neck.

Climbing higher into the sky we sudenly clear the clouds, their wings outstreched, the dawn sun shining on their scales and fur, making them shimmer. The clouds look as if someone had spilt multiple buckets of paint into the sky. Holding onto their horns, I look around, admiring the view, until their voice cuts through the silence.

"Hold on!" they say excitedly, tucking their wings into their sides. "Wait, what? Hold on? AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" I shriek as they suddenly go into a nose dive. "WHAT ARE YOU DOING YOUR GONNA GET US KILLED!!!" I shout into the wind as I see a body of water and some cliffs coming closer and closer. As I look at their face, they grin widely as they shoot me an amused look.

Is the ending of this chapter alright? I tried to make it go from calm and peaceful to terror.
