Branden was left with a curiosity after Syndra had told him that Ahri was "different". Branden always hated language class; he never took the class seriously but did enough to pass. The only other friend he had in class was Soraka; she was shy but always gained confidence near Branden. Branden helped her many times for when she had to talk to the class.
Branden's POV
What did she mean by different? Was Ahri's charm that effective on everyone? I thought as I walked to my desk. I sat down and Soraka was sitting on my left; she smiled when I sat down. "So, when do you want to stargaze?" Soraka asked with excitement, "maybe some time this weekend." I respond. I sat back into my chair a little frustrated, Why is this class required? I thought with frustration. The bell rang and class began.
The class was given our assignment for today. I looked at the one sided paper assignment, At least it was easy, I thought with relief. Ten minutes passed and I was halfway done; then I felt someone tapping on my left shoulder. I turned to see Soraka; she looked like she needed help. "What problem did you need help on?" I asked, "It's this paragraph revision problem, it seems right but I feel like it has a mistake or two." She responded. I looked over to see the problem; I read the paragraph and noticed that the second sentence has a comma that didn't belong.
I looked at Soraka and pointed at the misused comma, "The second sentence has a comma that doesn't belong there, replace it with a semicolon." She looks at me baffled, "ohh, I should have seen that, thanks." I noticed her green eyes starting to twinkle, that's strange, I thought as I turned away and continued on my paper. I soon finished with fifteen minutes left in class; I turned to Soraka to see if she needed more help. "You are doing ok Soraka?" I asked, "Oh im fine, it was just that one problem." She responded calmly. She quickly finished the paper and we both talked the rest of the hour.
Soraka looked at me, "So what do you think of the new student Ahri?" I took a few seconds to think of some words, Tell her you hate her! Don't do what your anger wants! Even if you hate her, don't express it! You aren't a bad person! I pondered my thoughts and looked down. I soon respond, "She's cool I guess." Soraka put her hand on my chin and tilted my head up until we made eye contact. She studied my face expression for a few seconds, "Are you ok? Is there something that's bothering you?" I quickly looked up confused.
"I'm fine Soraka, I'm just in a bad mood today." I responded by trying to sound happy. Soraka looks at me frowning at my response, "I can tell if you are sad, it's not good to keep anger in." I looked at her astonished, How did she know!? I had no words to respond; she put her hand on my shoulder and looked at me. "Is there something bothering you?" She asked with concern, "No its nothing, I am just in a bad mood today." Soraka still frowned at me, "It's ok to keep it in for now, but you cannot keep anger in. It can destroy you if you let it."
Don't believe her! She's speaking the truth! Do you not see what your anger is doing to you!? My thoughts were fighting again, "Anyway class will end soon, we can continue in astronomy or whenever you need help." Soraka said as she was packing her bag. I couldn't help but look at her incredibly long green hair, how can anyone have such long hair? I thought as I let out a small laugh. I decided to pack my stuff and saw a message notification from a random number, Who is this? I thought. I finished packing and decided to look at the message.
The message read "Hey it's Ahri, Syndra grave me your number. Can we just talk in private? We have a lot to catch up on and I just wanted to know you a little more. XO" Really Syndra, did you have to give her my number, I sighed. Block her! You don't need her in your life again! At least let her talk to you before you leave! You are being so stubborn right now! Sympathy finally took over and I felt slightly relaxed. I added Ahri's number to new contacts but I didn't respond to her message. I was startled when I turned around to see Soraka staring at me, "Jeez Soraka, don't scare me like that." I said as I took a deep breath, "Oh I'm sorry, but who was that?" Soraka asked apologetically.
"Oh... it was Ahri, Syndra gave her my number and she just texted me." I said after calming myself down. "That's strange for Syndra to do that, she never makes friends this fast." Soraka responded with curiosity. "Anyway, I have some plans for stargazing." Soraka said, changing the subject. "Go on, I'm intrigued." I respond with a smile. "We could go to the hillside just outside the city and there should be a great view of the stars." Soraka said cheerfully. "Sounds like a plan, we could do it in maybe two to three days." Soraka smiled and nodded in agreement.
I grab my phone and look back at the message Ahri sent me, I guess this is inevitable, maybe I should talk to her, I quickly decided as I left for astronomy class.
Short chapter today but i just want to note something, there will be fight scenes and many other interesting scenes soon.
This won't be a high school only story.
I just wanted to extend the early part of the story and wanted to spice things up. :)
