~a few days later~
yeonjun finally stepped foot into the library/cafe again. he hadn't been able to get soobin's smile, laugh or voice out of his mind. it was like a drug, and he felt down without it.
yeonjun went to the place in the cafe filled with kidcore, a little bummed that he couldn't find soobin or his brother anywhere. of course, they're model students and related to the headmaster, they must be busy. yeonjun picked up a book. it looked cute. it had two silhouette hands reaching out towards each other, a ray of light, reflecting on the hands and the baby blue background. "hidden rainbow..." yeonjun read a loud.
"i finished reading that last time," he heard a voice say. yeonjun looked up, and saw soobin looking down at him. big, round glasses resting on the bridge of his nose. "ah- really? what's it about?"
"i don't really like, to read but this was nice," soobin started, taking a seat on the bright green bean bag. it was a little tight, but they both kinda liked being close to each other. "-it's a little cheesy and cliche, but it has its own unique elements...like the two main characters being head over heels for each other."
yeonjun didn't think that was unique but remembered that the summary said the two main characters were males. "it's gay?" yeonjun mumbled. soobin looked up from the book at yeonjun's face. "wait- you're not homophobic are you?" soobin asked, tensing. he really hoped yeonjun was accepting, especially since he might have developed a tiny little crush on him already.
"what? god no, do i seem like one of those extraterrestrial beings?" yeonjun said, faking offence. soobin sighed out of relief and leaned on yeonjun's shoulder. "good, let's read then."
"h-haven't you already read this though?" yeonjun stuttered. his heart beat faster and his mind was racing. he had a cute boy on his shoulder, and not just any prince, choi soobin!
"mmhm, but i wanna read it again. and since it's with you, even better!" soobin replied cutely, pushing up his glasses. "what about studies or whatever?"
soobin sat up with a pout. "yeonjun...are you trying to get rid of me? do i make you uncomfortable?" yeonjun shook his head with wide eyes and took soobin's hand in his. "no, no! of course not! i just don't wanna distract you-"
"well, i only come here when my calendar is empty and i have nothing to do at all, so i promise there is no distracting. read!" soobin said, opening the book and giving it to yeonjun.
as they read, a worker came over and gave them both boba milk tea with tapioca pearls. as they read, the colourful aesthetic of the corner helped them relax. once they finished reading, the sun was starting set, and they both had to go.
"i don't want to go..." soobin whispered, snuggling into yeonjun. "me neither, but you're falling asleep, bunny," soobin blushed and shook his head. his mother used to call him bunny, it sounded so lovely coming from yeonjun's mouth. "mmkay, i'll see you next time?" soobin shyly asked, looking at yeonjun. yeonjun smiled at him and nodded. then he said - "when will next time be, your majesty?" with a playful smirk.
"aish! shush...peasant!" they burst out laughing, as they walked out the building. the warm summer breeze hit them and soobin breathed in. now to go back to that suffocating house.
"let's meet here soon? okay?" yeonjun called out, walking away. soobin pulled up his mask and nodded. suddenly, a quite reckless thought went through his head. soobin ran across the road to where yeonjun now was and pulled down his mask. "bin? what-"
soobin took a pen out his pocket and wrote a sequence of numbers on jun's hand...and then gave him a peck in the cheek. he pulled his mask back up to cover his blush and bowed, then ran away. "...pfft, that idiot bowed to me as if i was the one with the high status..." yeonjun mumbled, a bright blush on his own cheek.
soobin was hiding behind a tree, trying to calm his wild heart. oh god, i definitely have a crush on choi yeonjun-
