Cruel World {Minho}

Chapter 2

"So I'm the only girl in this place?" I ask Alby,my feet towering over the Lookout Tree. He sits beside me.
"That's right,you're just gonna be like any other Glader here,same job,same allowances. Some things might be a little different probably but still, no time for any free loaders. You'll be a Med-Jack,"
"What's that?"
"A doctor,a healer. You will spend your time bandaging up the Slicers or helping the new Gladers that will come. Like those boys,"
"No. No,there's no way I'm going near them again!"
"Fine. You'll be a Builder then Greenie,"
"Greenie?"
"Yeah,that's your name until you get yours back. It happens to us all,in a few days everything will take it's place,"
"Are you sure?"
"Yes I'm sure. Is that all you want to know?"
"I don't know."
"Tonight is the celebration. For you. It'll be fun! A good opportunity to make new friends and get fixed in. Okay,right Thomas was the one who arrived before you,but he isn't here at the moment,he's on work so I guess I'll just find someone else free to show you around."

We climb down and walk through the land for a little bit,we reach land full of boys heavily working.

"This is the gardens," Alby tells me "Hey Newt!"

A boy turns around then walks to us, I notice he has a slight limp in his step. Once he comes next to Alby I see he's a little taller than me with pale skin and blonde curly hair,he smiles at me warmly and shakes my hand.

"I'm Newt," he says "Second in command. It's a pleasure,"
"Yeah."
"Newt will he giving you the tour and settling you up. It's quitting time in a few minutes anyway and I'm going to check everything's on with Frypan," Alby walks away after that so I'm just there left with Newt.
"We'll go to the box and get your supplies. Come on,"

We pick up a sleeping bag then set it down in a sleeping spot,a little away from a bunch of hammocks.

I take a seat down.

"Who sleeps next to me?"
"Minho."
"And he is?"
"The keeper of the runners,"
"What's a runner?"
"Just a job. It's pretty impotent though. There's only two now,Minho and Thomas. I used to be a runner until I tripped and hurt my leg a few months back,"
"Is that why you have that limp?"
"Yeah. Now come on,the night awaits. Celebration time!"
