TASH’S POV

I stared at the both of them, they were fast asleep, his arm holding her close, her fingers intertwined with his. The girl started to wake, she must have heard me come in. Her eyes widened as she saw me and she leapt up to cover herself with the blanket.

“Excuse me what are you doing here? Who are you?” She asked me then shook Romeo who was still asleep beside her.

I couldn’t speak. Even if I wanted to, the words wouldn’t come out. Everything within me had just stopped so I just watched as she tried to wake him.

“Romeo wake up there’s some girl here” She told him.

He groaned and slowly opened his eyes. My boyfriend took one look at me and stood from the bed immediately slipping into his boxers.

“Tash, wh-what are you doing here?” His voice was frantic as he rushed to my side.

I said nothing. He reached to place his hand on my shoulder but I moved.

“Tash this isn’t what you think it is. Come here please, I can explain”

“Don’t touch me” I muttered quietly. I silently thanked my voice or deciding to join me.

“Sorry but am I missing something?” The girl spoke. I looked past Romeo to see she had now dressed herself. Her black hair fell past her shoulders. She wore a tight red crop top revealing the ridiculous amount of cleavage she had and her black shorts had been pulled up way too far. There was a small black stud in her nose which matched the one decorating her belly button. Images of guns covered the right side of her stomach and I could see more ink on her wrists.

“Can you leave please?” Romeo turned towards her.

“I’m not leaving because of this random. I’m your girlfriend” The girl scowled back at me with her black eyes layered with thick mascara.

“Girlfriend?” My voice was significantly louder now and I knew it would be any minute until the argument would break out.

“Just leave Nicole. I’m not going to say it again” Romeo grew impatient.

“No stay. I’d love to see what Nicole has to say” I narrowed my eyes at the pair of them.

“What’s going on Romeo?” The girl’s voice was much quieter now and I knew she had no idea who I was.

I continued to glare at Romeo. Had he been pretending to be single the whole time I was away? What about all the calls and texts saying he missed me and hated to be alone? He was never alone. He lied to me again.

“Nicole, this is my girlfriend” He mumbled with his head hung low, gesturing towards me.

“No, you told me you were single” Her voice cracked at the end and suddenly I didn’t resent her as much as I did a couple of seconds before

“I played you, both of you but she’s my girlfriend Nicole, not you” He dragged a red t-shirt over his head

She walked up to him, standing between the two of us. And then the shouting began.

I couldn’t help but look at the picture of me and Romeo that lay in the corner of his room. It was the same photo from my prom. I had tried to convince him so many times to put a picture of us up but he refused. According to him it made us seem ‘overly in love’, but there shouldn’t be a limit to our love. I finally decided to frame it and hang it up, as a surprise. That day he came home from one of his parties, liquor dripping from his breath, and smashed it. He ripped it from the wall and stepped on it multiple times, cracking the glass into hundreds of broken pieces. I wasn’t allowed to touch that photo again, so it just lay there on his bedroom floor.
