The ride back to Lothal felt super short. Probably because the anxiety and excitement of harvesting my crystal are not my main focus. I can't stop rubbing my crystal, memorizing every crack and crevice of its glowing surface. When we land back in front of the temple on Lothal, I see our little green Master Yoda conversing with Master Drook while they wait for us to land.
Before leaving the ship, Master Luna leaves us with a few words of wisdom. "Your padawan journeys are just beginning. Some of you will make it to knightship and some will not. Strive to be the best Jedi you can be. Not just to be powerful, but to help people and to learn more about the galaxy around you. Things will get hard and you'll want to give up but remember, there is no failure except in no longer trying." Master Luna says, leaving us with something to think about on our flight home.
Walking off of the ship I can't stop repeating the words, there is no failure except in no longer trying. I'm not sure why yet, but that sentence sounds familiar, and I feel connected to it. It reminds me of the usual saying from Master Yoda, do or do not, there is no try.
Master Yoda greets Maye and me with a warm smile and says, "harvested a crystal you have now. To craft your saber, the next step is."
He gestures for us to show our crystals to him. "Beautiful these crystals are, mhm? Unique to the wielder, each crystal is. Keep them safe, you must, until we reach Coruscant. Craft your lightsaber back home, you will." Master Yoda says as we begin to walk back to our small ship.
Master Yoda gave us permission to rest on our ride back to the temple, so Maye and I got some much-needed sleep after a very long day on Ilum. I wake up right as I feel the ship begin its landing cycle so I awaken Maye as well. We gather our belongings, making sure we have our kyber crystal with us still, and we leave the ship.
Looking at one of the clocks on the wall inside the temple, I see that it is 10:27 am and it is September 11. I automatically do the math to figure out how many days there are until my birthday without thinking that I don't need to do that anymore. Haha, old habits die hard, I think to myself.
"Before assembling your saber, some reflection time, you have." Master Yoda says. "Take some time to eat and meditate, you shall." Master Yoda says as he walks off, probably to do some meditation of his own.
"I'm too excited to eat," Maye says once Master Yoda is out of earshot.
"I agree. Meditating would probably be a good idea. A good time for us to center our thoughts and get prepared to assemble our sabers." I reply.
Maye nods in agreement as we turn and walk to our quarters. Reaching the door to my room I tell Maye to "come in my room whenever you're done! We can just hang out for a bit if there's time before Master Yoda comes back."
"Okay! Sounds good." Maye replies as she walks into her room and shuts her door.
As soon as I unpack my things and put them in their place, I go to my journal in my desk and flip through its pages until I find what I'm looking for. My lightsaber sketches. Only until I flip through all of the pages do I realize how many ideas I've put in this journal over the years.
For some reason, I've always had the thought that I would wield a blue lightsaber. Now knowing that I will have a green saber eliminates some of my ideas. In my head, a blue saber is more bold and eccentric than a green saber. A green lightsaber to me symbolizes more of a relaxed and gentle while still being powerful and wise. To me, that deserves a more natural and clever hilt than the daring and spontaneous attributes of a blue crystal hilt.
As I'm looking through more of my natural and clever hilt ideas, I'm noticing a reoccurring detail to all of my sketches and outlines. An idea starts to form in my head. I flip to an open page, getting excited about the design I'm developing by the second.
