After long hours of patience and focus, I finally complete my lightsaber. It feels so good to have finished this part of my journey towards knightship. This is essentially one of the biggest steps as your lightsaber is always by your side.
"Very good Esinons. Shall we go back to my quarters now?" Master Kenobi asks.
"Yes, master," I reply. "I would like that."
"Very well. You may have some time to say goodbye to your friend, Maye is it? When you are done, please find me in the library" Master Obi Wan tells me.
"Thank you, Master!" I say as Master Kenobi walks out of the crafting room.
I walk over to Maye who is also saying goodbye for now to Master Unduli and Barriss. She turns to me with a sad look on her face. We've known this moment was in the near future for a while, but have never wanted it to happen.
"Maye-" I start to say as she embraces me in a tight hug, feeling like she'll never let go. We unspeakingly decide to save the words for another day. Knowing that we'll see each other again, we just enjoy the hug.
When we let go of each other I ask to see her saber. Maye holds out a silver saber full of black details. It has a straight hilt with a curved rim. It is complete with alternating black and grey bands at the top. The alternating colored rings mimic those of Master Unduli's saber.
"Maye, it's beautiful," I tell her, receiving a warm smile from Maye.
"Let me see yours," Maye responds.
I put my saber in between us and let her hold it in her hands.
"Esinons this is stunning! I have no doubt that this is your saber." Maye tells me.
"Thank you so much!" I reply. "Should we get going?" I ask.
We make our separate ways out of the crafting room. Maye heads towards her quarters and I make my way to the library to meet Master Kenobi. I hold my lightsaber in my hand as I walk down the temple's long hallways to the library. It feels different, being able to bear a lightsaber. I've always had a training saber, but grasping my own saber carries a different weight to it.
I see Master Kenobi right as I walk into the library. I take in all of the library's knowledge and beauty when I step inside its vast hall.
"Padawan Windcaster," Master Kenobi says as he sees me approaching him. "Ready to pack your things?"
"Yes, master. It shouldn't take me long," I reply, "Ahsoka and I shared most of our things. Oh sorry master, you probably don't know who that is." I say, slightly embarrassed. My ability to overshare when I am nervous is one of my traits that I am not fond of.
"Oh Esinons, I do know Ahsoka. She is my past apprentice's padawan. I see us working together in the near future." Master Kenobi says with a smile. "Now, let us get going. Today will be a busy day for you, my padawan."
Hearing Master Kenobi call me his padawan hit me harder than I would've expected. It's everything I've ever wanted for as long as I can remember. Now that the day is finally here, it seems unreal. Knowing that I will get to see Ahsoka soon makes me feel excited! I can't wait to tell her about everything and hear about her and Master Skywalker.
I watch Master Kenobi stand up from his spot at one of the tables and I immediately find my place to the right and two steps behind him. Remember, two steps behind and to the right. First impressions mean everything Esinons, I remind myself.
Without any directions, Master Kenobi finds my quarters. He instructs me to pack my things while he inspects my lightsaber again.
"Would you tell me about the wave engraving again, Padawan Windcaster?" Master Kenobi asks politely.
