Introduction :-

The most important part in any book is the introductory part and you have done a fabulous job in writing a spine chilling one. Childhood is the most precious stage in everyone's life. I realized that not everyone has the blessing to have a stress free, blissful, happy childhood. Kudos to you for such a creative and bold start.

Title: A title is what attracts the readers first and foremost. Innovative titles are attractive and rare. The name covert is attractive and it definitely has the potential to grab our attention.

Cover: An alluring cover that gives an insight about the leads. Life is always about becoming good, better, best. Same way, the cover can be improved with a little mystery thrown in.

Blurb: Heart touching blurb. It's crisp and gives just enough details about what to expect in the book. But sometimes, being crisp and direct may lessen the curiosity in a reader.

Summary -

Human realm comes to know about the vampire realm coexisting with them. In order to maintain peace, the vampire realm and the human realm agree to a pact, to maintain peace.

There is a group called hybrids who have certain traits of the vampire and the humans.

They are the peace holders.

Kade and Rebel belong to the hybrids who protect and mediate between the other two realms. Shipped together as the perfect, famous and dream couple of the academy are Kade and Ava. Rebel has feelings for Kade, which she suppresses. Due to certain misunderstandings, Rebel's roommate Leah takes revenge on her by posting a note about Rebel's attraction towards Kade, resulting in a negative light on her. A year after the chaos, the academy still remembers her attraction to Kade.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, Ava is out of the picture. During the pairing ceremony, Kade and Rebel are thrown together. Unknown to anyone, Rebel has a dark past which she doesn't want anyone to come across.

What will happen when Kade and Rebel have to stay together for four years forms the crux of the story.

Analysis and Evaluation -

Characters and their development: As the name suggests, Rebel is a rebel. I love her characterization. She is a powerhouse and her friendship with Leah even after the mishap shows that she is a gem. Her attitude to the outside world is different. She is bossy, unapologetic and is hated by many. The more I read about her, she resembled a coconut who is hard from outside but soft in the inside. It's really difficult to write a character who has different shades of personality and you have done a fabulous job in detailing such a complex character.

Kade is the perfect dream man. His love towards Ava, the indifference he shows to Rebel, his friendship with Axton and Blake makes one dream about such an uncomplicated life.

Rebel and Correy's friendship is true friendship goals. Especially Rebel's selflessness when she comes to know that Leah and Correy are a pair and she willingly gives up her idea of getting paired with Correy as planned before.

Zach is a nightmare. He gives me a creepy feeling. With just a few appearances, he has captured attention.

The portal through which one has to pass through to reach the other realm, it's a really innovative idea. I guess it will have an important part to play in the latter part of the story.

Plot: Hybrids as the main characters are a welcome change and I am glad that the author has not portrayed the entire human or the vampire realm as antagonists. Instead of being secretive about Rebel's past, a few glimpses can be brought in.

The pairing ceremony was brought in abruptly. More light can be thrown on certain things like Kade's emotions, his loss and his suffering. I felt like his Point of View could have give more insight to his side of the story.

Descriptions: Unrequited love is something everyone goes through at least once in their lifetime. But having the person whom you are attracted to, nearby, and seeing him doting on someone else is pure torture. Especially when you know that you can never be that person.

Your words have beautifully described Rebel's agony and yearning.

Losing your love, is the worst kind of torture. With Ava gone, Kade's helplessness and his thirst for revenge is subtle. Maybe, a little more aggressive nature of Kade can be shown when he loses his love.

Grammar : A little more fine tuning, like inserting commas can help in easy understanding and long sentences can be broken into short ones so that non native speakers can easily understand.

Sensory flow: The most important thing a writer has to keep in mind are the emotions. Without them, no book can become successful. Covert stars has all the ingredients to become a success. Rebel's emotions are a huge plus. But Kade's emotions are a little vague.

Conclusion -

One of the best vampire human and hybrid stories I've read. The setting of the entire story makes me go in awe. Kudos to you!

Overall Impression:

There is a huge scope for this book to become successful if directed in the right direction.

This review is purely my personal opinion and I apologize if it has hurt anyone.
