Jem's POV

A soft knock alerted Jem from sorting music,

"Come in." he called. He looked up to see Tessa clicking the door shut and locking it. She came and sat on the edge of the bed. She leaned her head on Jem's shoulder. Setting down his music he wrapped his arm around her, "What is it my love?"

Tessa took a shuddering breath, then the tears came. She wound both her hands into his shirt, burying her face into his chest. Jem embraced her, stroking her hair with one hand. Scooping her up he turned and slide under the blankets. Still holding Tessa, he began to sing softly, soothing her aching sobs. He lifted her head to stare into those watery gray eyes, kissed her, then just clung to her.

"Tell me a story Jem." She whispered

"Hmm..." Jem sighed, "Remember what I told you when I asked you to marry me? I can offer you my life though it is a short one; I can offer you my heart but I do not know how many more beats it shall sustain. I meant that Tessa, I am hopelessly devoted to you. You are my drug Tessa, you are like my yin fen. Only, you are much better, I would die without you." They fell asleep like that, wound together like a knot. Just before Jem slipped into a deep sleep he heard Tessa murmur

"You're just as bad as Will with words."

*Special* Simon's POV

Simon lead Izzy through the twisting side streets of the Big Apple.

"SIII-MMMOON. We've been walking for like 5 hours."

"It's been 10 minutes, Iz."

"I'd like to see you walk in heels." Isabelle grumbled. Simon spotted what he was looking for,

"There, we're here." He said pointing to a side door on a crumbling brick building. Isabelle wrinkled her nose in disgust.

"Do you not trust me Iz?" Simon asked, but before she could answer, pushed her up against the wall making her squeak. He came close, but didn't kiss her. "Do you not trust me, love?"

Her eyes dropped to his lips, went back to his eyes, then back down to his lips. She licked her lips, anticipating the feel of Simon's mouth moving in sync with her's.

"Agh, Simon I trust you." She said, relenting.

"Completely?"

"Yes, Completely."

"Good." He said simply, he pecked her cheek. "Do you love me?"

"That depends."

"On what love?"

"On how freaking fast you get this damn duck, SIMON!"

"As you wish, ma'lady." Simon pulled away and strode over to the door. He rapped on the wood hard, with his knuckles. a warlock answered, he smiled when saw Simon. No words were spoken, Simon just handed the warlock a wad of bills. The warlock stuck out his hand out to shake Simon's. He looked over his shoulder and a little girl with pointed eyes waddled out leading a white duck with a red leash. She handed the leash to Isabelle.

"Awwww...." Izzy said petting the duck's head. "Does she have a name?"

"Mmmhmm." the girl nodded, "Indie, I'm Cleopatra, Cleo for short."

"After the Eygptian queen?" Isabelle asked, Simon and the warlock watched fondly.

"YA! Grandpapi's met her, that's what daddy said." Isabelle looked at the father, he did look slightly Egyptian. "Grandpapi is..."

"Cleo? Sweetie, go get ready for bed, kiss mama goodnight."

"Yes daddy." The little girl ran for the door, turning back only to yell, "Take care of Indie!" Isabelle looked to the father, he smiled showing his blue gums, his warlock's mark.

"She's adopted, my wife wanted a little girl so bad, her real mother dumped her." He said sadly, "My name is Saaghan, it's Korean for 'wicked'. Saaghan Gynum"

"Why Cleopatra, Mr. Gynum?" Izzy asked, watching the duck waddle over to some weeds in the sidewalk cracks.

"My half-brother's aunt. Brave woman, we want our daughter to be brave like her." Isabelle smiled at that.

"Why are you getting ride of Indie?" Simon asked,

"My daughter is getting a puppy and we don't the dog to kill Indie." Isabelle nodding, approving.

"Thank you for the duck, we should probably go." Simon said.

"Yes, goodbye!" Saaghan said closing the door quietly.

Simon sighed, "Her name?"

"Indie." Isabelle sighed too.

"Come along, Indie, let's go home." The duck waddled in between them, stared up at them with her big brown eyes, and quacked adorably. The duo walked their new found friend home.
