Jem's POV
"Jem, honey." Tessa asked wrapping her arms around Jem's neck as he sat on a chair grooming Church.
Jem looked over his shoulder, bringing his mouth a few inches from her's. "Yes, my love?" He pulled back a bit in order to stare into her eyes, tucking her hair behind her ear."Can I take Will out to see some sights in New York? I want to catch him up in music." Tessa asked, batting her eyelashes.
"Dear, why even ask? Of course you can! Will needs to get out and do something besides shadowhunting." At this Tessa squealed and kissed Jem. Jem marveled that even after so many years as a silent brother, he still remembered everything about her. Yet, that was sound he had never heard before. He pulled back, kissing down her throat, back up, and landing a peck on her mouth.
"Go have fun, don't let Will kill anyone." He warned.
"Will killing someone, impossible." Tessa smiled before skipping out the door.
Will's POV
"Come on Will." Tessa said, literally dragging Will by the arm out of the Institute. Will kind of felt embarrassed by this, speaking that Gideon and Sophie plus Gabriel and Cecily were strolling down the stairs behind them. Both Lightwood couples had tickets to go see 'The Phantom of the Opera', so they were dressed in fine clothes. Sophie was wearing a short red dress with black flats and Cecily a short blue dress with white flats, while Gideon and Gabriel wore fine black suits. Sophie had her hair in a braided, loose, side bun while Cecily had her hair in beautiful, curling ringlets.
"I don't understand why we can't go see a musical, it's much more gentlemanly." Will insisted.
"That's because we only had four tickets now shut up and get in my car." Tessa pushed him in the passenger seat.
"Where did you get a car that could seat nine?" Sophie asked climbing in.
"I borrowed it from Clary's mom, she used it to haul her artwork places." Tessa started the car. Will mumbled something about how he was sure insurance didn't cover 'accidental' angel tantrums. Tessa reached over and slapped him over the head.
"Will you be quiet! You look fine and you'll have lots of fun!" Will looked down at himself, of course he looked good. He always looked good. Well, especially tonight, in a pair of dark blue jeans and a light gray polo. That wasn't the problem he just didn't want to go to a 'dance club'. They reached the Metropolitan Opera House and bid a temporary farewell to the Lightwood couples before heading off. Will was upset that driving didn't take longer to reach the club. After they parked, he reluctantly followed Tessa in.
Tessa's POV
Tessa smiled at the bouncer and waved."Hi August, this is my friend Will." She gestured to Will, who was leaning up against the wall with his arms crossed. August raised an eyebrow,
"Where is James?" He spoke with a thick German accent.
"At home, said it was okay if I wanted to bring a friend to dance with." Tessa said, August nodded.
"Go in."
"Thank you." Tessa hugged him, she noticed out of the corner of her eye Will's jaw tightening. August released her from his bone-crushing hug,
"Have fun." He went back to watching the door.
Will hissed, "Who is that?"
"Oh that guy?" Tessa asked pointing over her shoulder, "I meet him on the streets a few years ago, he was adopted by warlocks as a kid, homeless. Magnus fixed him up with a job here. We're friends." They entered the dance floor, it was an upbeat song. So Tessa took Will over to meet, Martin, the bartender. Who was a vampire, who looked like he had just rolled out of a magazine with his black hair and dark eyes. Suddenly the beat changed to a playful song. Tessa's eyes nearly popped out of her head,
"I love this song!" Tessa grabbed Will's hand and drug him onto the floor.
Will's POV
"What are you doing?" Will said, too late Tessa was singing. Will completely turned out everything and just listened to that heavenly voice.
"Oh don't you look back, just keep your eyes on me. I said you're holding back, she said shut and dance with me." Tessa was dancing, twisting and turning in a way that she knew memerized Will. "Watch me, Will. I'll teach you." With that Will learned to dance, soon he was moving to the songs. Tessa smiled at him as they danced to a few more songs. Finally, Tessa pulled him over to sit down.
"Oh Will, you are good." Tessa leaned her head back against the wall, she wasn't even sweating. Her cheeks flushed and she gulped down air.
"I'm Will, I'm good at everything remember." Suddenly, Tessa said,
"Will you slow dance with me, I really like this song?" Will stood and extended his hand out to her.
"Anything for you." Tessa batted her eyelashes and accepted his hand, and together with her head on his shoulder they began to sway gently. Tessa sang softly to the words of the song called All of Me. By the end they were so close, Will couldn't tell where Tessa began and where he ended. Will pulled back and gently caressed her check with his knuckles.
"Tess." He whispered as he lowered his lips to hers. What meant to be a simple brush of their lips soon became deeper. His hands gripping her waist as her hands found their favorite place, wound in his hair. As impulse he parted her lips with his, causing her to exhale through her nose in a slight sigh. All around them people oohhed and ahhhed. Bringing them both back to reality, he pulled away.
"I want to surprise you." Was the first thing Will said.
"You just did." Tessa giggled, blushing from all the people around them.
"Even more so." Will pulled away and strode over to the DJ. Whispering for a few seconds the DJ, nodded and began furiously typing away on his machine. At first Tessa heard nothing, then the first few notes of a sad waltz rang out.
Will walked over to her and bowed,
"My lovely Tessa Gray, may I have this dance?"
"Always Will, always."
