The walk to the subway station was an awkward one. The two of you didn't talk much until descending into the crowded warmth of the station. You shrugged off Childe's jacket and shoved it into his arms as you stuck your card into the turnstiles to pay for your ticket. You watch him pat down his pockets and rummage through his jacket, before finally coming across it and crossing the turnstiles to you.

"Do you know which train we need to take?" You asked him as you both approached a nearby map.

"I think it's... this one," he replied, pointing to a red line. "If this is right, we're about to miss it."

"Wha- Come on then! If we miss this, Wanmin will be closed by the time we get there!" You grabbed his hand, dragging him along as you hurried to that part of the station.

"It might be worth missing if you keep holding my hand like this, Y/N-chan," Childe teased you.

Flustered, you adjusted your grip to hold his sleeve instead, "Shut up. You're lucky I've agreed to come with you at all! I could be walking right into a Fatui trap, yet here I am," you muttered.

Childe just chuckled in response.

Hurrying down the stairs to the platform, the two of you arrived just as its doors were closing. You stopped as it pulled away, causing Childe to bump into your back. Noticing your dismay, he rested his hands on your shoulders, pulling you back to lean into him and wrapping his arms around your front, "We can just go somewhere else! If we wait for the next train, there's a tavern near Wanmin that we could go to instead. I heard it has really good food~."

You tensed at his closeness. You could feel his voice vibrating throughout his chest as he spoke, and it scared you. Not in a fear kind of way, but more of a haha woah this is a feeling I haven't felt before?? kind of way. Starting to relax just a bit, you looked up at him, "Sure, I guess. Which tavern is it? You better not be lying about how good their food is..."

He released his hold on you and spun you around to face you, "It's Third-Round Knockout. I used to go there a lot, so I promise I'm not lying about the quality of their food. The drinks aren't half bad either," He winked at you when he said that last bit.

The train came a while later, and while boarding you could have sworn you saw a glimpse of a familiar tattooed Adeptus getting off, but it was too quick to tell. You sat right up against Childe because the whole car was rather cramped. He even had to put his arm around you so you could avoid being squished against a stranger. Instead, you pressed into his side; anyone who looked at you would have thought you were a couple.

Arriving at your destination and leaving the station, you took in the crisp air. The sun had begun to set since you first descended into the station, and now it painted the sky in beautiful strokes of red and gold. Combined with the illuminated storefronts and city lights, it looked magical. Childe pulled his phone out while you were distracted by the sky, and snapped a quick photo of you.

Alerted by the flash, your eyes snapped to him, "Did you just take a picture of me?"

"I just couldn't help myself, you look so pretty right now~" He grinned at you.
