     Rapid knocking sounded at the door, signaling Xiao's arrival. He was quite a bit early  actually. Ajax was closest to the door and, before you could stop him, got up to check the peephole and opened the door.

     "Hellooo little Adeptus," Ajax mocked, looking down at him. The shorter man at the door growled and pushed past him, stopping the moment he saw you.

     Xiao's eyes misted over as he took a deep breath, then closed the distance between you as quickly as possible. You had been standing by the bed, and the force of him tackling you into an embrace knocked you back into it. He held you as tightly as he could while being sure it wouldn't hurt you.

     You hesitated for a moment, seeing as he was now on top of you and had just knocked the wind out of you. After a moment you snaked your arms around his torso, squeezing as tight as you could.

He said something, but you couldn't quite tell what it was as it was muffled in you shoulder. After another moment he pulled away, flushing a bit as he realized he was on top of you. He quickly scrambled up off the bed and helped you up, then frowned.

"So how many times are you going to get yourself kidnapped Y/N?"

You giggled a bit, "Mmm, at this rate probably at least one more time. But I won't have that problem tonight! I've got scary dog privileges~" you answered, cupping his face in your hands and squishing his cheeks a bit.

Xiao grabbed your wrists and stepped back to escape your face-squishing. "I may care for you deeply, but please don't treat me like a puppy."

"Then hurry up and stop wagging your tail Xiao. I know you're happy to see me, but we're gonna be laaaaaaate. It's already six so c'mon!!"

Ajax snorted at the dog comments, which made Xiao grimace. "I-" before he could respond you were already pulling him out the door, waving to Ajax and leaving the suite.

"It's just Lantern Rite, why are you so excited..?" Xiao grumbled behind you.

     "If we don't get any rice balls I'll hold against you forever."

     "Fine, but don't just run off," Xiao grabbed your hand, "please just stay close."

     You stopped and turned to him, before smiling and lacing your fingers together, "Of course. Now! Rice balls!" You dragged him over to a stall, picking out the largest they had.

     After the vendor handed over the delicacies, the two of you sat close together below a large tree. Even though the chilly air but at your cheeks, the warmth the Xiao and the lanterns kept you warm.

     As you happily dug into your treats in silence, Xiao only stared down at his. After a few moments he piped up, "Can I just ask..."

      "What is it Xiao?"

     He sighed, meeting your eyes, "What do you see in that guy?"

     You paused, setting the leftover rice balls aside, "I can't really explain it? You've had a soulmate, you should understand."

     "I do, it's just- uuuggh Y/N he's a murderer for Archon's sake."

     "...You say that like you or I have never killed anyone," you mumbled.

     "That's not how I meant it and you know it."

     Without answering, you heard some commotion down the street. A crowd of people were forming around a platform, which could only mean one thing. "Hey, hey I think they're about to release the Mingxiao Lantern!"

     "This tree still has no leaves, so we may as well climb it for a better view."

     He help you up to the top of the tree, settling beside you on a sturdy branch. The wind cut through you even easier up here, causing you to shiver more. Without even needing to ask him Xiao had wrapped an arm around you and pulled you closer to him to keep warm.

     This year's Mingxiao Lantern was modeled after Cloudbracer, an adeptus of ancient myth. The large deer soared into the air, leaving a trail of smaller lanterns behind it. Amazed by it as you were, you couldn't help glancing over at Xiao. The slightest of smalls was tugging at the corners of his lips. That made sitting in this cold tree worth it in your opinion.

     He helped you down out of the tree as well, his quick instincts kicking in when you slipped on the last branch. Thanks to his reaction though you landed safely in his arms. You stayed at the festival until it became too cold to bare, heading back to Wangshu Inn in the middle of the night. Xiao made you swear to call him if you ever needed him, even if it was for something small, before you pulling you into another tight hug. He didn't even outwardly show emotion this much when you were children.

     "Hey Ajax, I'm... back..?" You trailed off as you took in the state of the suite.

     All of the smaller furniture had been pushed against the walls, save for a low tea table and some cushions. Ajax was sitting on one of the cushions, fidgeting impatiently. When you heard you come in he perked up, "Hey girlie, did ya have fun?"

     You grinned at his complete disregard for the mess he'd made in the room. "Yeah, I did." You took off your coat and walked over to sit on the cushion across from him, "Can I ask what all this is about though?"

     "Well I couldn't go out to the festival with you, so I figured... I'd bring the festival to us." His freckled cheeks grew red when he finished his explanation and looked up at you.

     You reached across the table and grabbed his hands, "You are adorable."

     His face grew redder still, before he leaned across and kissed you softly. You pulled away just long enough to make your way around the table, closing the distance for a deeper kiss. You leaned forward, before Ajax pulled you on top of him to straddle his lap.

You attempted to get him to part his lips to no avail. Taking it as a challenge, you pushed his shoulders back until his back was flat on the ground. Instead of giving you what you were clearly asking for, he moved his hands up to your waist. You were in a stubborn mood however, so rather than giving up, you grinded your hips against him, eliciting a few moans.

     With some progress towards your goal, you slipped your tongue into his mouth. He seemed desperate to have you, chasing after you when you pulled away from his lips, moving to kissing his neck and jaw. The fingers at your waist dug helplessly into your curves while he squirmed beneath you, begging for you to give him more friction.

     "You're so needy tonight," you murmured against his ear, "what happened to my rough and domineering Ajax?"

     "Please, Y/N," he whined as he tugged on your hips again, "please just- mmh~" He moaned again when you rubbed against him, noticing his erection had grown even more in the short time.

     "Wait." You got off of him, much to his dismay as evidenced by his whining. Your bag had caught your attention, reminding you of something inside it. "I have a better idea..."
