You glanced at Xiao as you sent a message explaining the situation. He hesitated for a bit, then slipped out of the park before Childe could suspect he would follow. Despite being a Harbinger, Xiao knew that Childe was a man of his word, so he felt it was safe enough to leave you with him and his siblings; despite the fact that it made him uncomfortable to do so.
Childe made idle chatter with his siblings as he helped them over the fence to leave the playground. He put a hand out to help you as well, but you ignored it and climbed the fence yourself. Anthon made a sarcastic jab at Childe for it, but you didn't really hear. You were occupied with the young boy who had just attached himself to your arm.
"You're gonna love dinner, Big Brother is a really good cook!" Teucer told you, swinging your linked arms as you walked along.
"Really?" You shot Childe a look, "Wait, we're going to your house?"
His hands were in his pockets in the most casual manner you'd ever seen him in, "Yeah? What, did you think I was gonna drag 3 kids to a restaurant?" He reached over and ruffled your hair a bit, "Not a chance."
You ducked away from his hand as Teucer tugged on your arm again, "Are you his girlfriend?" The question caught you so off guard that you stopped walking, causing the boy to nearly trip.
"I- I- Wh- No! Of course not, ahaha, what a silly question!" You pulled your arm out of his grasp and covered your face, not wanting anyone to see how flustered you were.
Anthon snickered while Tonia asked, "But aren't you his soulmate? He talks about you a lot y'know."
"T-Tonia! Don't go spilling all my secrets..." Childe's voice cracked as he said it, "A-anyway, what do you guys want for dinner? You haven't told me." He was trying to change the subject so the whole walk to his house didn't have to be marred with the embarrassment you two felt.

They lived surprisingly close by to the school, so it wasn't long until you could escape the harsh cold outside into the warmth of his home. You stood awkwardly in the entryway while they went about their own business. You really felt out of place as the kids went off to their rooms or to play some more, and Childe left to the kitchen.
He must have noticed you hadn't gone anywhere because he popped his head back in, "You comin'? I'm gonna need help making all this y'know."
"Oh, er... yeah," You kicked off your shoes and followed him.
The kitchen was bigger than any you'd ever been in before. The island in the middle already had a spread of ingredients laid out, "What are you making?" You asked, hopping up to sit on an empty counter.
"We are making Calla Lily Seafood Soup. Teucer picked it out, it's his favorite." Childe answered with a grin.
"I uh.. One thing about that. I can't cook..."
"We'll just have to fix that, won't we?" He walked over and put his arms on either side of you on the counter, trapping you. His face was uncomfortably close to yours, but the cabinets behind you prevented you from backing up, no matter how much you wanted to. Before either of you could say anything else, however, you heard someone clear their throat.
Both of your heads turned to look at the source of the noise, and you were met with an older man. Childe recognized him right away and backed off from you, looking embarrassed. "Father..! I thought you were at work tonight." He said while rubbing the back of his neck.
"Tonia told me you were coming home tonight, so I figured I should see my son."
They talked for a while more and avoided talking about why you were there, despite the position you two had been in when his father came in, so you only sat in silence. When he left, Childe sighed and leaned against the counter next to you, "Sorry about that. Father has never liked it when I bring girls over."
"Is that why you insisted on me coming here? To be another girl that you bring home?" You asked, narrowing your eyes at him.
"It's not like that and you know it, Y/N," He walked over to the sink to wash his hands, "Before, you were in more danger the closer you got to me. Now it's the opposite, considering how Dottore has changed his mind about staying away from you." He walked back over to you and reached a hand out to you, but you flinched away, "Do you distrust me that much?" He looked a little disappointed.
"I-it's not that, I just..." You sighed, "I'm just so scared of you, Childe. You looked so merciless when you told me you would kill me when we next saw each other, but now I'm supposed to forget about that and trust you again?"
"I get it... For now, at least believe me when I say I'm not going to stab you with this shrimp knife or anything." His joyful tone returned when he added, "C'mon girlie, we got a soup to make!

"...It looks like a sea monster drowning in its own blood..."
The two of you had finished making dinner and were now staring down at the pot of soup, which had just finished cooking. The crab and squid really did make it look like a living creature.
"Well if you don't like it, then just don't eat it!" Childe huffed and crossed his arms, pouting like a kid.
You lightly punched his shoulder, "Hey, I didn't say it was bad. It smells really good actually."
He dropped the pout and gave you a grin, "Great, then let's gather everyone and eat!"
Childe filled everyone's bowls and brought them to the dining table, and told you how to get to the kids' rooms to call them down for dinner. Anthon in particular seemed to dislike you because he didn't even open his door when you knocked.
Their father never spoke to you during dinner, and the whole thing was rather awkward; for you, at least. Childe and Teucer would occasionally try to get you in on the conversation, but you felt out of place and eventually dropped out. You even purposefully ate slower so you could follow whoever got up first to the kitchen.
By chance, it was Childe who got up first. You scrambled to follow him, trailing behind like a lost puppy. By now he'd figured why you came with him and silently took your bowl from you to rinse along with his. You hopped up to sit on the counter next to the sink while he did.
The both of you were quiet until he turned off the sink, "Y'know, for some who's so scared of me you sure do like to be close to me." He smirked.
You looked away from him, suddenly finding the tile very interesting, "I'm already familiar with you, so... I'd rather deal with this than eating dinner with people I've never met."
"Ah, sorry for bring you here.. It was the only thing I could think of at the time, aha," he said, rubbing the back of his neck. "To tell you the truth, I just needed to keep you from going home. Your place might be a little messy when you get back..."
Eyes snapping back to him, your fear spiked again, "What do you mean my place?"
Childe avoided meeting your eyes, instead casting them towards the entrance to the kitchen, where Teucer and Tonia had just entered "Perhaps we should talk about this somewhere else. C'mon, I'll take you home."
